This book contains meditations on the Seven Last Words, Reflections & Litanies on the Agony in the Garden and a more general reflection on the life of Christ. They are based firmly in the Scripture and experience - not highly theological as you might assume based on the author.I would rank this among the top three Lenten books.

This book is absolutely amazing! It puts into words what we saw in the movie "The Passion." This book still brings me to tears when I read and contemplate it before a crucifix.

For the 10 years since I purchased this little gem from Amazon in April 2000, this has been my Holy Week (Triduum) companion. Each year's reading provides many opportunities for reflection and, more importantly, hope. It is very readable and can prove to be a nice introduction to Rahner's work. One can easily read the first section on Holy Thursday and the second on Good Friday. Rahner's prayer and reflection books are works that will feed the spirit for years.
