Pretty solid fresh sound,

If you're into thrash like slayer or The Haunted, etc etc...definitely check this one out. I think they provide a slight street hardcore sound to the mayhem going on here, and that difference gives a fresh feel to the music. Definitely more aggressive than most. It's not spectacular and flawless, but definitely worth buying...definitely better than 90% of everything else out there.

Unrealistically heavy (if anyone reads this...),

Well, I can see by the lack of reviews on this page (no offense to one Mr. Robert Whitman, my fellow reviewer) that Watch Them Die are not terribly popular, but this is such a good CD that I had to double the number of Amazon reviews for it. This CD is one of the heaviest metal CDs that I have ever heard. Calling Watch Them Die brutal would really be an understatement because every single song abuses the listener from beginning to end. Songs are generally kind-of thrashy / speed metal, but not always, and they're packed full of awesome, heavy riffs. The vocals are about average and the songs themselves are not overly complex, but in this case it all works perfectly. The songs tend to be medium length (generally 5-7 minutes) which might bother some, but even in the longer songs there is nary a dull moment.I'm not sure who I would compare Watch Them Die to, but I guess that the closest bands would be Grimfist, Lamb of God (although heavier), maybe Skinless... I don't know, but take my and Robert's words for it -- this is a metal CD that you do not want to miss. Best songs -- all (not kidding).

Better than most,

This is one heck of a debut album. Only 7 songs on it but none of them suck. This band could easily be one of the biggest thrash metal bands of the decade if they keep coming out with albums this good.

These guys opened for Gwar in Lawrence, KS when I saw them. They were insane! I've never heard anyone put so much into their songs. I bought the CD that night and it didn't leave my player until a week later. If you want the real deal heavy metal then check these guys out.

Yeah that's right not only that but it's one of the single greatest debuts ever made. The entire album is full of memorable songs and riffs. It seems more and more these days that bands create music which is indecipherable from one song to the next. WTD ends that here!!! Each song is memorable, brutal, and as aggressive as hell. It's like Black flag, slayer, and Acid Bath meeting up with Clandestine era Entombed. 100% thrash music at it's very best, it could rival 'peace sells', 'Reign In Blood', 'Beneath The Remains' or 'Vulgar Display Of Power' anyday. CANNOT WAIT for the next WTD!

Watch Them Die's debut album is the best thing to happen to Century Media. they almost sound like Pantera (R.I.P.). they need to create a second album. they are definitely awesome. Century Media knew what it was doing when it signed these guys to their impressive roster of bands.

Watch Them Die is ex-Grimple, Word Salad, OjoRojo, and several other interrelated bands. This release is an onslaught of musical terror! There is not a single mediocre second on here! If you are into punk, crust, grind, death, or black metal then buy this f**king album!!! NOW!!!

Great debut,
This review is from: Watch Them Die (Audio CD)
Watch Them Die's self titled debut album does not dissapoint. One of the reviewers on here got it right stating that they provide a slight street sound on this album, which works really well here. Although this album does not top their thrash-tastic second release "Bastard Son", there are some memorable songs on here:
Torn Pages - Great opener with catchy riff and very memorable chorus. Fall From Grace - Great song with very unique yet catchy riff in the middle. Sadist Ways - Headbanger classic right here. The best song on the album. The dual vox on this song steps this song up a notch too. I recommend playing this song loud while driving fast! I recommend to check out their sophomore release "Bastard Son" first as they are coming into form of who they are on that one, and it is a memorable disc that makes you realize how stagnant other metal bands really are. Then pick this one up after! |
