The first half of this book continues the saga of Betty Luca (formerly Betty Andreasson of the Andreasson Affair) and is weird and riveting. Betty herself provides pencil-drawing illustrations, which makes it easier to follow the strangeness being described in the text.

I have studied this subject for over 40 years and even recently had an experience that confirmed that I am an abductee myself. I am a computer consultant, x-Special Forces, a college graduate, father of two.

The information is unsettling, but if you are intensly pursuing this subject you may be more involved than you think. The interceded to save me from dying from blood poisioning and I have the scars to prove it.

Another great book, which provides detailed information, particurlaly on the development of a hybred species is The Threat by David M. Jacobs, Ph.D.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hit and miss, December 11, 2003
This review is from: Watchers, The (Mass Market Paperback)
The first half of this book continues the saga of Betty Luca (formerly Betty Andreasson of the Andreasson Affair) and is weird and riveting. Betty herself provides pencil-drawing illustrations, which makes it easier to follow the strangeness being described in the text.

But then Fowler starts going into his own supposed alien experiences, which are vague and not especially interesting. He goes on and on about weird (and completely pointless) coincidences in his life (like the time he got a phone call from someone named Baum when he just happened to be thinking about the Wizard of Oz - who cares!?!), and then treats us to blow-by-blows of his inconclusive hypnosis sessions, which shed precious little light on anything. He spends four whole chapters telling us his story, but there really isn't much for him to tell. Interesting stories to tell your friends, maybe, but nothing worth writing a book about.

The Betty half of the book is definitely worth reading, though. It certainly won't be convincing to the skeptic, but it's a page-turner.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not one of my favorites., February 17, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Watchers, The (Mass Market Paperback)
Although I've read a few books on abductees and their experiences, I found this one somewhat disturbing. Much of the information related by the abductee was new to me and I did not expect it in a book from whom I considered to be a serious researcher on the matter. I found the religious hues of those messages difficult to believe, although that in itself is does not mean that Lucas' experience wasn't real or her recollections inaccurate. However, when the author became personally involved and started relating his recent discovery that, after years of dealing with testimony from abductees, he suddenly realized that he too had been abducted, he lost credibility and made it very hard for me to finish the book

4.0 out of 5 stars Bizarre part 3, November 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Watchers (Hardcover)
Moving on to phase 3 of the Andreasson Affair the bizarre story just goes on. Once again this is too weird not to be true, and a must for all UFOlogists. This time Ray adds an account of his own abduction, which I'm not sure adds to the mystery or gives credence to Betty's saga - decide for yourself. It certainly has left me looking forward to phase 4

5.0 out of 5 stars Abductions just down the street., January 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Watchers, The (Mass Market Paperback)
When I met Ray Fowler in Oct. 1997, he was giving a presentation about UFO's in Beverly Mass. at the Masonic Lodge. I am a sci fi fan and had a fairly well rounded knowledge of the subject.
What I did not know was that some of the events in The Watchers (signed) occured "just down the street" from where we were!
I will always reserve full judgement on the phenomenon itself until I actually experience it. But the book was very detailed about the experiences brought out under hypnosis.

4.0 out of 5 stars Eye Opening, September 13, 2009
This review is from: Watchers, The (Mass Market Paperback)
I found this book to be really interesting and eye opening! Quite unbelievable but so interesting at the same time. I'd never read in any detail about any 'abduction' experiences before. I'd only read about generally what people describe as having an abduction experience. But this book goes into detail on quite an incredible experience by this particular woman over many years. It makes you realise that it's not such a scary thing as we once made all this out to be.

I would definitely recommend this book for people interested in knowing why they are here and what they are doing.

The Watchers was an excellent book. One of the best I have read on the UFO subject. It takes a very unique approach the whole enigma.

5.0 out of 5 stars High Strangeness at Its Best, July 31, 2001

"ooch" (Aurora, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Watchers (Hardcover)
this book caught me off guard. i was not at all prepared for the level of high strangeness reported by alien abductee betty andreasson-luca. if you don't believe in ufos & aliens this book will either convince you or scare you away! but is her story real or a hoax?? i'm convinced that it is REAL!!! the fact that she cannot explain most things she has seen rings of truth. her story goes beyond any science fiction novel and blows 'em away. the only weak chapter in the book is the author's own ufo/alien encounters. i HIGHLY recommend this book above all others!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very riviting and thought prevoking book, March 3, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Watchers, The (Mass Market Paperback)
There has been so much writen these last few years on this subject that it has become difficult to differentiate between that which is truth and that which is fantacy.Raymond E Fowler's latest works, both The Watchers and The Watchers11 sound like something out of a fairy tail. But this is far from fairy tails and goblins my dear readers. As I read this book something inside me knew this book and it's sequel may very well become the bible of all abduction and new age seekers of truth, and what is really out there. My mind still struggels with the content because it sounds so far fetched. Yet, how do we define truth? It is an inner knowing. My inner knowing was doing flips when I read this book even though still my mind rejects that which tends to shatter all that was taught to me as a child. Read it for your self. Just because it sounds too far fetched doesn't mean it isn't so
