I usually read reviews before I buy a book, but this time I didnt. I'm so sorry that I didnt. I am only half-way through this book (and thats only becuase i've skipped page after page),so far this is by far one of the worst books I have ever read. I cant stand the characters at all. Someone's watching...Amanda Sedgwick never wanted anything from her rich father except love, but William Sedgwick gave her nothing during his lifetime. No that he's dead, everything has changed. Overnight, Amanda goes from being a single mom with a dead-end job that barely covers the rent to a fabulously wealthy heiress. Her inheritance comes with several conditions, however, one of which is the man who will be making sure she follows her father's eccentric rules to the letter...
And it's not who she thinks it is...Ethan Black isn't happy about what William Sedgwick asked him to do--but he owes the old man his life, literally. Playing babysitter to a young women who barely knew her father when he was alive is hardly what he had in mind, but Amanda is far from the gold digging brat Ethan had expected. Falling in love definitely wasn't in his job description--nor was putting his life on the line when it becomes terrifyingly clear that he isn't the only one watching Amanda.

When I read the review for this book it sounded intriguing, and even though I had never read any of this authors work before I thought I would give her a go. I wish I had saved my money and I won't make the mistake of reading any of her work again.
I hated Amanda. What a wishy washy heroen. She was whiney, pathetic and just a pain in the A@@#.
I gave 2 stars for the amount of time the author sat down writing it.

Really liked this book, the plot, and the characters. Already read the 2nd and 3rd books in the "Sedgwick Sisters Trilogy". Enjoyed "meeting" three such different women, and liked how Taylor made the half-sisters friends.

1.0 out of 5 stars Painful to read, December 17, 2005
This review is from: Watching Amanda (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Paperback)
Thankfully I only borrowed this book. I'd hate to think that I'd actually have wasted my money on it. Normally, I don't mind if these kinds of books are a bit hokey but this one just annoyed me. I wish I hadn't read it. Taylor's characterization absolutely sucks. Her heroine is wishy-washy and pathetic. Ethan is a little better but not much. (My one star is because I like his name. She gets brownie points for that.)

Her 'mystery' wasn't much of a mystery - I had it figured out halfway through the book. The whole plot to get Ethan and Amanda together was just stupid. I might have enjoyed its quirkiness if it had actually meant something and had not been just a plot piece. And on top of that, the two sex scenes in the book I could have done without. They are entirely random. There is no lead up to them, no clue that they would happen before and not much of one afterward. Ethan and Amanda are supposed to be deeply in love but I didn't feel. They seemed kind of fond of each other but I wouldn't have drawn it out any farther than that - yet at the end they both profess how much they love each other. Give me a break. Don't read this book, people! It's not worth either your money or your time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Listen to the first reviwer!!!!, December 3, 2005

The first reviewer is absolutely correct. The blurb on the back of the book sounded so interesting. Amanda is one of the most pathetic young woman that it has ever been my misfortune to read about. I was ready to throw this book against the wall. Please, save your money. If I could give this book negative stars,I would.
