Gr 4-7-In this sparkling addition to a lively series, Ross presents a bright, readable, up-to-the-minute biography of a pioneer and respected expert in the field of ichthyology. The well-organized text is illustrated with a number of somewhat unpretentious black-and-white and full-color photos, but they are almost eclipsed by Smith's colorful drawings of a wide variety of fish mentioned in Clark's studies. Equally engaging information boxes are liberally scattered throughout, dealing with such diverse topics as fish "swimsuits," ichthyological "spying," and a pair of experiments.
