Fascinating sci-fi murder mystery,

This review is from: Watching Trees Grow (Paperback)
This particular version of "Watching Trees Grow" is a limited run (only 500 copies) signed copy, so I read it VERY carefully so as not to break the spine. You never know, it could be worth money some day!
I loved this story - it is a murder mystery set in an alternate universe - one in which the Roman Emperors bred their gladiators for strength first, then for longevity, ending up with a strain of humans that are incredibly long-lived. During the 1800s, a young man is murdered. The detectives set to find out who did the deed never give up - it is well into the 21st century before the crime is solved. I don't wish to talk much about the plot other than that, so as not to spoil the surprise for any of those who have yet to read this little gem. If you get a chance, buy this chapbook from where ever you can find it, and enjoy a very entertaining view of how things might have been. |
