The Most Underrated Country Rock Band in the World,
By JamesNYC "JamesNYC" (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Watching TV / You Can't Get Off With Your Shoes on (Audio CD)
All most people know about Barefoot Jerry is that they are mentioned in Charlie Daniel's "The South's Gonna Do It Again." That is all this reviewer knew about them until he discovered "You Can't Get Off With Your Shoes On" in a used record store about 16 years ago. It was simply one of the finest Country (some would say "Southern") Rock albums ever recorded. It has been a long wait, but thankfully it's now available on CD. This UK import also includes a second album "Watchin' TV." While not quite as strong as "You Can't Get Off," it does not disappoint. Tunes like "If There Were Only Time For Love" and "Slowin'Down" should have been smash hit singles. It is a shame that such beautiful music has touched only a very few Americans.

I too grew up in Tennessee and remember hearing Barefoot Jerry one morning on my clock radio when I was half asleep and had to go out that day and buy the album.
Not only is the music great but the sound quality of the CD is awesome with gobs of dynamic range and crystal clear sound. [...] Highly recommended!!!

Barefoot Jerry 1971,

I saw Barefoot Jerry do a kind of dress rehearsal for their first tour at the University of Tennessee in 1971. Rich Mountain Tower opened for them. Barefoot Jerry was awesome. People in Middle Tennessee were already familiar with the legendary session guys who made up the band formerly know as Area Code 615. That was an amazing night. They did a song that I'm having trouble finding called "The Smokies". It was most appropriate for a Knoxville concert, and it was one of their best songs. I'm not sure which record it was on. Anyway, I agree that it is great that their music is available again.
