Book Description

April 1, 1998
This innovative guide-written by parents for parents-reminds us that the only sure way to raise godly children is to pray sincerely and specifically for their character every day. Rather than allowing prayer to become superficial and routine, Watchmen on the Walls shows how parents can move to a deeper spiritual level and claim God's promises for their children with confidence. This approach is based on the convictions that children are worthy of parents' faithful prayer and that prayer changes things. Each day's guide is only a page and takes just minutes to read, its message can transform a young life...and last a lifetime.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a must-have for prayerful parents of all ages!, July 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Watchmen on the Walls: Praying Character into Your Child (Hardcover)
The subtitle of this book, "Praying Character Into Your Child" says it all. Each of the 12 chapters gives attention to a different character trait (kindness, humility, teachability, forgiveness, obedience, discernment, purity, responsibility, courage, servanthood, contentment, and endurance), with each one having five days' worth of prayers and Bible verses. There are also spaces for journaling and ideas on how to teach your child the traits. As I use this guide, most of the time I'm praying that these traits will be evident in my life as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Dad Who Wants His Kids to Glorify Jesus Christ, February 3, 2000

This review is from: Watchmen on the Walls: Praying Character into Your Child (Hardcover)
If you believe in prayer, this book is for you. If you have kids, this book is for you. I have the honor of knowing Anne and Gary. This book comes from their heart and their faith. This book lays out great prayers, with scripture to back up the prayer, that keep a parent focused and disciplined. I need both by the end of the day. My kids love what they call "The Prayer Book." If I happen to forget it when I tuck them in at night, I am quickly reminded to get "The Prayer Book." This is a great gift to give Christian friends who have children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Character Choice, December 30, 2010

This review is from: Watchmen on the Walls: Praying Character into Your Child (Hardcover)
This is probably the best book I have seen for parents to intercede on behalf of their childern. Very practical guidelines for not only praying, but also taking action to help their children to develop important Godly character in a world that doesn't much value character any more. Unfortunately you have to find this edition wherever you can. I cannot reccomend its succesor "While They Were Sleeping". That edition has virtually removed dads from the picture. Get this one "Watchmen On the Walls" while it is still available.
