This is a must-have for prayerful parents of all ages!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Watchmen on the Walls: Praying Character into Your Child (Hardcover)
The subtitle of this book, "Praying Character Into Your Child" says it all. Each of the 12 chapters gives attention to a different character trait (kindness, humility, teachability, forgiveness, obedience, discernment, purity, responsibility, courage, servanthood, contentment, and endurance), with each one having five days' worth of prayers and Bible verses. There are also spaces for journaling and ideas on how to teach your child the traits. As I use this guide, most of the time I'm praying that these traits will be evident in my life as well!

A Dad Who Wants His Kids to Glorify Jesus Christ,

If you believe in prayer, this book is for you. If you have kids, this book is for you. I have the honor of knowing Anne and Gary. This book comes from their heart and their faith. This book lays out great prayers, with scripture to back up the prayer, that keep a parent focused and disciplined. I need both by the end of the day. My kids love what they call "The Prayer Book." If I happen to forget it when I tuck them in at night, I am quickly reminded to get "The Prayer Book." This is a great gift to give Christian friends who have children.

This is probably the best book I have seen for parents to intercede on behalf of their childern. Very practical guidelines for not only praying, but also taking action to help their children to develop important Godly character in a world that doesn't much value character any more. Unfortunately you have to find this edition wherever you can. I cannot reccomend its succesor "While They Were Sleeping". That edition has virtually removed dads from the picture. Get this one "Watchmen On the Walls" while it is still available.

This book, with two scriptures and two prayers per day, helps me pray for my children and grandchildren. The prayers have blanks where the name of the person you are praying for is inserted, making it more personal. As I pray, I often think of others to pray for, so I include them, too. Usually before I'm done I realize I need the prayer, too, so I pray it again for myself.
Last Christmas we gave about a dozen of these books as gifts. I've been using it for several years and re-pray it.

Praying character into your children/grandchildren,

This review is from: Watchmen on the Walls: Praying Character into Your Child (Hardcover)
This is a handy, well laid out guide for praying specific character qualities into your children. It is a very useful tool to prayerfully 'connect' with the Power of the Holy spirit as a tool for righteousness in our children's and our grandchildren's hearts. This resource helps the reader to make use of 'praying the Scriptures'. It can be easily adapted for use in praying for 'adult' children, or really for anyone. I have shared this book with several friends whose 'adult' children were in rebellion, or were not acting at all like adults. The only caution I have is that many of the Scriptural references are not King James or even New King James translation, but the reader can easily turn to their own KJV or NKJV as they pray, if they so desire. |
