This is the book you have been looking for. If you are either interested in having a water birth or educating yourself casually as a professional, you will start and end with this book. This is indispensable literature from our nation's authority on water birth! I have no regrets. I bought this book and have since gifted it to many others (my loaners were never returned, which is a good sign *chuckle*) who have commented back to me on their appreciation for it! Get it, you won't regret it. It never hurts to have the full picture.

There is a lot of interesting information in this book, but it wasn't what I was hoping for. I am trying to weigh my options for the delivery of my first child. Although I want the most natural birth possible, I do understand that there are situations where I may have to sway from this wish.

I was seeking more information about the pros and cons of water labor and birth and purchased this book. The book describes the history of water birth, our "instinctual" draw to water, many pros to water birth, and some rebuttal to commonly stated cons to water birth. The book very much favors water birth, I was hoping it would be more objective. The other down-side to this book is it was published in 1990, so the material isn't as up-to-date as I was looking for.

If you're just looking for information, this would be a good book for you, but if you want help making a decision look elsewhere.
