5.0 out of 5 stars I keep coming back to listen to this CD over and over
When I saw this CD promoted on CMT I wrote it off as a sad, washed-up former star trying to make a comeback (I was also put off by his apparent plastic surgery - what happened to this poor guy?). I decided to check it out anyway - listening to "I Can't Unlove You". I was immediately hooked. This is a wonderful song and Kenny's voice is simply amazing. A few of the...

A few of the songs are somewhat corny (as others have noted) but I found them to be a nice diversion from the usual Top 40 fare focused on sex, drugs or worse. After buying and listening to the entire CD I was very impressed - there are some great songs here that will stick with you long after you've listened to them. This is a great CD and will probably be sadly overlooked by many people because of the "reasons" I stated above. If you are as skeptical as I was give it a listen anyway - you will be pleasantly surprised.

5.0 out of 5 stars Debbie, March 30, 2006
This review is from: Water & Bridges (Audio CD)
One needs a box of tissues the first time this album is listened to. Anyone who is a baby boomer coming of age, will relate to most of these songs & it will stir emotions thought to have been put away a long time ago.
I loved it.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Didn't think I liked Kenny........but, June 23, 2006

I have never been much of a Kenny Rogers fan. But I really liked the first release on his new album. So I thought I'd go for it. I love, love, love it! I have a tendency to like my music melancholy. So this was my cup of tea. I would highly recommend it!!

Good music, good writing, excellent musicians, great sound --- shall we say Kenny is 'The Master'? I think that he is! This disc is no exception! If you are indeed a Kenny fan, it's a must own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old Enough, June 1, 2006
This review is from: Water & Bridges (Audio CD)
I am old enough to remember sitting in the pool hall listening to Kenny on the juke box and sitting in the mustang and listening to him on 8-track. He has only gotten better through the years. He has a message that he wants to deliver to those who aged with him and those new comers just coming on the scene. Life is getting better, age has not limits. His voice and style of singing, brings each song/story to a vivid image in your mind. Just like Dolly, Kenny will continue to be a fixture in the country music world. This album brings a lot of emotions to the fore front. Things that have happen to get him to where he is now. This CD is well worth the investment. It is also an wonderful gift to give to a baby boomer.

4.0 out of 5 stars WoW!, April 8, 2006
This review is from: Water & Bridges (Audio CD)
Love it! I laugh, I cried and it gave me chills. Its not often I actually like more than 1 or 2 songs on a whole CD. Kenny is truely a story teller that can take you threw a whole relm of emotions.Would highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice selection of new songs, March 28, 2006

This CD has a lot of feeling, emotions and a few songs that will make you think a little. The songs that were selected were not hard edged or political but each one of them tries to tell a story, a story that can be full of hope, desire or amazement. The arrangements; at times, are a little over done, but Kenny is getting older (gee, just like the rest of us) and his voice can take a little assistance.

I am not a huge Kenny Rogers fan but I really enjoy this CD. The songs that I liked are: "Someone is me", "Half a Man", "The last ten years" and "My Petition" but really all of the songs are good. If you are looking for background music or something that will just play without really wanting to listen to the songs themselves, then this might not be the CD for you. But if you want to hear Kenny Rogers singing songs that he clearly feels connected to that tell a story like the older Kenny Rogers songs, then this CD is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Water & Bridges by Kenny Rogers, June 18, 2006
This review is from: Water & Bridges (Audio CD)
I got free tickets to a Kenny Rogers concert and forgotten how good he is. His voice sounds the same today as it did forty years ago. He sang some songs from his new album, and they sounded great. I went out and bought the album the next day.
Kenny Rogers has the ability to pick songs with lyrics that matter and does a great job of intrepreting them. The album is well worth the money and unlike a lot of albums I've bought recently, I would buy it again and recommend it wholeheartedly
