Water Crystal By Anya Bast

Earth 2075, a world of chaos and struggle, the planet's water poisoned… Together, in a world thirsting for drinkable water, Angelo and Bianca make fire…

When Bianca Robinson steals a special crystal, Angelo, a Guardian of the Order, tracks down and arrests the thief. However, Angelo suspects that Bianca isn't a criminal, but merely a woman ready to do anything to right a wrong.

Bianca has grown jaded in her fight for survival, but every brush of Angelo's hand on her body breaks down her barriers. He alone seems to have enough heat to melt the coldness within her. He makes her want a man's touch for the first time in many years and awakens every carnal and dark erotic yearning within her.

Angelo knows that Bianca is forbidden to him, but she tempts him like no other woman. She inspires him to act out every one of his sensual desires. Angelo will break every rule in order to have her...and to keep her.

More About the Author

Anya Bast lives in the country with her Belgian husband, their tornado toddler of a daughter, and more cats, dogs, and rabbits than is sane. Ever since she was a little girl, Anya has told stories (much to her mother's dismay). She's happy to finally be making a career out of it.

A native of one of the colder states, she loves to ice skate and watch hockey. She has fascination for crows, ravens and birds of prey. She enjoys the study of Eastern philosophy, Celtic myth, dreaming, and shamanism and occasionally incorporates what she learns into her paranormal stories. She works part time as a data base editor and French translator.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Page Turner of the First Water!, December 10, 2005
By
This review is from: Water Crystal (Paperback)
Earth in 2075 is a bleak and barely habitable world where mere rain can kill. An alien bacteria that is poisonous to humans has infected the water cycle. Pure, drinkable water is a scarce commodity supplied by the Water Company.

Bianca Robinson has stolen the master crystal from the Water Company. She believes the crystal is the key to reversing the bacteria poisoning. She is soon tracked down and taken captive by Angelo DiMarco, a Guardian of Order from the Water Company. Underneath Bianca's angelic looks lies the heart of a fighter. Determined to retrieve the crystal and escape before they return to the Water Company, she tempts and seduces Angelo at every turn to get him to let his guard down. What she didn't count on was her growing attraction to the handsome captain.

Angelo is a compassionate and honourable man who struggles to do the right thing. He is duty bound to return Bianca to the Water Company so that she can be punished for her crime but Bianca's goodness and hidden vulnerabilities calls to his protective instincts and heart and makes him question his faith. As the truth unfolds, he joins Bianca in her cause but he has a secret of his own. Will the two of them succeed in their journey to save Earth's water supply?

Anya Bast has exceeded herself with Water Crystal. Her version of futuristic Earth is amazingly realistic and detailed without bogging down the story and the premise strikes terrifyingly close to the heart. Bianca and Angelo are distinctive, striking characters I can relate to and they are a perfect match for each other; the pages fairly cackle with the chemistry between the two. If you are looking for a fast-paced, steamy and suspenseful futuristic romance, you will not be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bad, Bad Bianca! She's Great., December 1, 2005
This review is from: Water Crystal (Paperback)
Set in a stark, post-apocalyptic world, this tale of loss and redemption quickly drew me in. Bianca is a strong, hard-bitten heroine who nonetheless has a tender and beautiful side to show to her guy, Angelo. I admired her determination to do what she knows is right, even when that runs contrary to all appearances and accepted logic.

Angelo has his own honor and his own journey of loss and redemption to travel through. None of Anya Bast's characters are all good or all bad, but Angelo is good enough to be a believable paladin, and flawed enough to be engaging.

I would have liked to learn more about the Kirans, Water Crystal's intriguing aliens, who are in some ways both the villains and the heroes in this multilayered tale. I'd also have enjoyed a little deeper exploration of the Kirans' tech, which has utterly changed the ecosystem. But both the action scenes and the intimate scenes left me breathless. Overall it's a great read that I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys action-adventure-futuristic, hot, sexy novels.
