A good book discussion many important facets of Water Distribution Modeling. For in-depth aspects advanced Water Distribution Modeling may be a better choice. Both are written by the formost authorities in the subject. Therefore they are good choices for your reference library.

This book is a must have for water distribution professionals (engineers and scientists). It is not just another manual for WaterCAD users! I recommend it for anyone who is involved in or simply interested in state-of-the-art water distribution modelling. The simplicity with which it presents hitherto 'complex' modelling techniques is worth mentioning. Advanced methodologies such as water quality modelling, genetic algorithms (GA) and geographic information system (GIS) are so simply presented that instant modelling skills can be picked up readily. Above all, everything is presented in one comprehensive book.

I am proud to be an owner of this wonderful professional companion.

I took advantage of a special offer to purchase Haestad's Water
Distribution Modeling book. The book is very well structured and contains a wealth of information. This book gave me the opportunity to review basic water distribution engineering principles and to learn more about the advanced water distribution topics.

Excellent reference book for the junior to more senior water distribution modeler.

The main feature of a "Water Distribution Modeling" book is the coverage of all the parts and principles of the modern water distribution system. it can be successfully used as a text book. Not going into specifics, it gives a sufficient knowledge in a number of subjects, such as fluid mechanics and dynamics, material properties, modeling and simulation, etc.
In addition to that, "Water Distribution Modeling" can serve as a handbook for a system engineers, while dealing with planning, operation and rehabilitation of the network. Several practical issues are discussed in detail and advises are given.
In conclusion, "Water Distribution Modeling" can save both your time and space on your book-shelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why would you want it?, May 16, 2001

By all means, this book is the "Bible" of water distribution modeling. It is one of the most important and valuable resources for practicing engineers in hydraulics and hydrology.

Professionals and students can both appreciate this book because it meets their needs no matter what the circumstances. Written by notorious industry experts such as Thomas Walski, Donald Chase, and Dragan Savic........ "Water Distribution Modeling" will be the book you refer to again and again.

If you are a practicing engineer, it is simply foolish not to have this one on your bookshelf; or better yet...... in front of your face. You can practically feel yourself getting smarter every minute you read further. Amens and praises for this godsend.

A "must-have" book by all means.

I have reviewed the "Water Distribution Modeling" book as well as the included WaterCAD software and I was able to find fast and precise answers to problems related with water distribution, hydraulics, and water quality.

I would like every professional in the Sanitary, Hydraulic, or Environmental industry in every country, as in the Dominican Republic, to have the opportunity to obtain this valuable tool.

It could also be extremely helpful in Academic Institutions oriented towards Civil or Environmental Engineering.

Congratulations for such a great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Complete Guide to Water Distribution Modeling, May 13, 2001
By

This review is from: Water Distribution Modeling (Hardcover)
Water Distribution Modeling shows why Drs. Walski, Chase, and Savic are considered among the foremost experts in water distribution modeling. The book provides essential information for modelers at all levels of expertise - students, beginners, as well as experienced engineers. Water Distribution Modeling can serve as a college-level textbook or as a bookshelf reference manual.

Walski, Chase and Savic have authored a complete guide to water distribution modeling. All aspects of model development are covered, from basic modeling and hydraulic concepts to more complex issues such as extended period simulations and water quality. The presentation is focused, direct, and understandable. The organization of the book allows a reader to quickly locate specific information without searching through pages of unrelated materials. Basic modeling tasks are explained without "talking down" to the reader. Advanced concepts are described in a clear, common-sense manner that even a first-time modeler can easily understand.

Water Distribution Modeling is a hydraulics textbook, but differs from other hydraulics books in that it is oriented to modeling. The explanations of building and calibrating models recognize actual mapping limitations, field data availability, and monitoring equipment capabilities. The procedures provided therefore apply to the "real world." This same real-world approach is used in the presentation of typical modeling analyses and design applications.

In summary, Water Distribution Modeling is a complete reference for water distribution modelers. It is well worth a thorough review.

I am very pleased with the new "Water Distribution Modeling" book ... The book is a really great book - well formatted, very readable and delievers the message in a clear concise manner.

It is a real pleasure to find so many qualities in a text book; it makes one wish they could return to college just to experience the "new" diminsions of the learning experience. ...
