Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Kindergarten-Grade 2?Both of these titles use plastic overlays that cover and change the full-color pictures on opposing pages. The illustrations, while bright, are a little flat and two dimensional. The books seem to be geared toward young children, but the vocabulary (glacier, evaporates) is challenging and some of the concepts are too complicated for that audience. The typeface on many of the pages is quite small. Of the two, Cars and Trucks is the more appealing. However, Donald Crews's Truck (Greenwillow, 1980) and Joanna Cole's Cars and How They Go (HarperCollins, 1983) are better selections on that subject. There are any number of easy-to-read titles about the water cycle.?William C. Heckman, Lake Forest Elementary, Hollywood, FL

This review is from: Water (First Discovery Books) (Hardcover)
This book is an excellent tool for explaining your 3-6-year-old how clouds are formed, where snow comes from, and everything else related to water. Pictures are colorful and realistic, and transparent insert make the pages come alive. A must in every curious child's library!
