From Booklist
Timber Press, whose goal seems to be an encyclopedic work on every type of plant, now offers the definitive book on water lilies and lotuses. Part 1 provides information on designing, building, planting, and maintaining water and bog gardens, and includes a history of water plants and gardens. There's information on hybridizers, floating plants (plants without a root system anchored in soil), submerged aquatic plants, marginal and bog plants, and moisture-loving trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials, ferns, and ornamental grasses. There's also a chapter on fish and other creatures found in water and bog gardens. Part 2 is a comprehensive list of water lilies and lotuses, describing all the species and major cultivars. The finished book will have 443 color photographs, 3 color illustrations, and 76 black-and-white illustrations.
