5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Anti-Splash Water Bowl
My pointer loves water and wants a lot of it. I found it difficult trying to get a water bowl which would not tip over and have water all over the car.

The Waterhole Dish works for me. I have an area in the back of the car which has an plastic lip for holding groceries. I fill the entire area with pet cushions and rugs etc to make my dog comfortable on long...

3.0 out of 5 stars did the job
My 3 cats like splashing, so in desperation I picked one of these up from Petsmart. It did the job pretty well. My main complaint is it really doesn't hold much water. It says 2 inches deep, and it is. But the "lip" is about 1.5 inches, so you really can only fill about .5 inches and still keep it effective. Because of the low water level it needs frequent refilling and...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Anti-Splash Water Bowl, July 13, 2007
This review is from: Anti-Splash Water Hole (Misc.)
My pointer loves water and wants a lot of it. I found it difficult trying to get a water bowl which would not tip over and have water all over the car.

The Waterhole Dish works for me. I have an area in the back of the car which has an plastic lip for holding groceries. I fill the entire area with pet cushions and rugs etc to make my dog comfortable on long trips. And I am able to wedge this bowl against the corner of the grocery lip with rugs around the bottom. It stays put and my dog has plenty of water. It is easy to fill without taking the top off. I carry a gallon jug of water with me in the back seat and replenish it when the dog needs additional water on the trip.

I love it because the water stays where it is supposed to be..in the dish and is readily available for my dog. I have put it in the top part of the dishwasher and have had no problems. I would not recommend putting it into the bottom section because the dish itself feels like a combination of plastic/rubber and it might change shape. It cleans easily and the top is easy to get on and off. And it snaps shut quickly (even if you are holding the dog with one hand and trying to snap it on with the other) and the top does not slip off. My dog has not been able to get the lid off..so the water stays put and is able to be easily accessed by him.

If your puppy has long ears, they don't flop in the water. I do not have a cat now but I imagine that it would be equally good for cats as well.

I would recommend it highly; but remember it is not weighted so in traveling it needs to be wedged against something in the back of the car, so as not to slide around. Once wedged it works perfectly for travel.

It would be a great container for food as well and is really both a water and feed container. Though I use it for car travel, it can easily be used for home, RV, boat or SUV travel and as both a feeder and a water container.

I have found it to be an excellent product and have been using the same bowl for two years now; with no problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars great for dogs with long ears, July 10, 2006
This review is from: Anti-Splash Water Hole (Misc.)
I bought the bowl for my service dog in training to go in the car and, unless it completely flips over or falls off the seat, it does a great job of being spill proof. It also keeps his floppy ears out of the bowl when he is drinking. The only thing I would change about it would be to have the bottom weighted more to keep it from tipping over when he kicks it.

I have a cat who tips every water bowl we've ever had, but he can't tip this one. Nor can he bat the water all over the floor. I used to have to keep his water bowl in the tub, but now he can drink in the kitchen with the rest of us!

I purchased this bowl for my very small puppy 4.2 lbs who loves to dig in her water bowl. I really thought it was going to be much smaller. It took her all of five minutes to make a huge mess. The bowl now sit on top of my refigerator. Maybe if you have a larger dog or a smaller bowl would be great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good bowl for travel or to leave in the car etc., June 26, 2007
This review is from: Anti-Splash Water Hole (Misc.)
As noted in other reviews, this bowl is not made of very durable materials that will last for the long haul. I keep this in our car and use it for when we're away, or at the beach. It's great to use sporadically, just not every day. I wouldn't try this in the dishwasher either...the plastic isn't thick enough. It is effective for dogs that like to dump their water out - you can hold it upside down with nearly no spillage.

1.0 out of 5 stars big mess....., July 20, 2011

I bought this for my cat who likes to play with water, food, litter, you name it. I was extremely hopeful but it took her all of 2 minutes to flip this thing over and send water flying everywhere. If you have a calm pet and this was for a car or RV or whatever, I'm sure it would be fine. But if it's for a pet like mine, then this is definitely NOT a non-spill water bowl....

I'm either going to try adding velcro on the bottom of the bowl or find something heavy to put this in so she can't flip it over. Either way, it would be a lot more useful if this "non-spill" water bowl was weighted in some way.

We do a lot of traveling in our motorhome and this fills the bill. Before I was constantly having to refill our dog's dish as I would only partially fill to prevent splashing. With this bowl no problem fill it up, put the cover on and go. Our dog can easily drink from the opening. The curved edges inside make for easy cleaning.

Hole is just big enough for snout of our Vizsla. Most of the spillage he does is because he drinks so much and then dribbles it out of his mouth when he is done. I use a big ceramic bowl as well, but he isn't prone to spilling that or slopping so much at the bowl. Good product, have not tried in the dishwasher yet, not sure on the plastic.
