I took a fairly structured water law course but even then it was hard to keep straight all the different legal regimes, federal laws, and constitutional doctrines. Come exam time, this was the perfect thing to fill in any gaps in my outline. Also being that Getches was a co-author of my casebook, the book corresponded really well with the order of my class notes/reading assignments.

Great book. Was used very effectively in our policy class. Information on past and present water laws, including the origins of water law were great to study. Interesting cases.

Very useful book for law students, lawyers, and scholars interested in this somewhat labyrinthine subject. Addresses the past as well as the present state of water law in the various states and at the federal level.
