Light and free - Tafelmusik shines!, August 10, 2000

Spectacular! Tafelmusik performs on period instruments, which gives the piece a lighter and airier feel than some performances of the Water Music. Vibrant and uplifting. Performed at a faster speed than you might be used to, but this simply serves to energize the album and does nothing to detract from the gorgeous playing. Il Pastor Fido is also on the album, rather than the usual "Fireworks" music, which gives exposure to this less frequently performed work. Total playing time of over 75 minutes provides excellent value. Highly recommended.
