We purchased the water pearls as part of the center piece for my daughters wedding reception. They were amazing! We did a trial run on June 16 to test the longevity of the product and how long it took for them to expand. I would suggest a full 48 hours for them to expand but believe it or not, they are still in good shape today. Just as a side not, use Kool-Aid to add color to your beads. The color is more vibrant.

My goodness! I didnt realize how so little could go so far. These tiny little marbles absorb water and amaze me at their end size! I couldnt really figure out how to get them to dehydrate, but I love knowing that they are biodegradable. I still cant believe I got so many bags! These are going to last me forever unless I find a use for them all! lol
The only complaint I have is at how easy they are to break apart. If I want to put a light at the bottom as a tester for example, moving the jelly beads around breaks them apart when I take the light out, etc. Putting flowers in does the same thing. So just beware. The broken peaces do not look so good floating around :(

I purchased these to use in my wedding centerpieces for this October. I saw the picture and thought it would be really cool to have the flowers submerged in these water pellets with an LED light at the bottom of the vase. Before buying such a large quantity, I tested this with a package of already made pearls from my craft store (expensive!) and my idea looked awesome! So naturally I turned to Amazon to try and find a deal on a larger quantity.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered these. I knew they would arrive smaller than the sample I had in the store but I wasn't sure how small. When this small envelope of pellets arrived I was confused. They start as these TINY hard little round pellets (think couscous size). Intrigued, I decided to test it out. I submerged a pinch-full in water, waited an hour, and was amazed by how big they got! At first I wasn't sure they did anything because if you have the pearls in too much water, you won't be able to see them at all. Noting that though, you will want to start out with a lot of water so they can all absorb and grow to the correct size. I recommend getting a 10 gallon bucket from your local hardware store and filling that with water and putting your pearls in it. The pearls retain and expunge water - there are no chemicals involved and they are completely safe for floral arrangements. They're really slippery and squishy :) Definitely an amazing find.

I ALSO BOUGHT THE CLEAR WATER PEARLS FOR MY WEDDING CENTERPIECES. IT IS THE COOLEST THING EVER TO WATCH THE PEARLS GROW FROM BEING SO TINY AND WHEN YOU ADD WATER THEY EXPAND. I BOUGHT SOME OF THE HOT PINK SUBMERSIBLE LED LIGHTS AND PUT THE LIGHT IN THE VASE WITH THE PEARLS AND IT LUMINATES THE WHOLE VASE! I LOVE THIS PRODUCT AND I JUST BOUGHT ANOTHER BAG. IM GOING TO TRY THE PINK PEARLS OUT!

I used these for wedding decorations. they were inside vases with flowers. they were amazing and a big hit. I thought they were really neat and everyone thought it added a nice touch to the decorations. they didn't really come with any instructions but after some experimenting I figured out how much water i needed for the amount of beads i was using. If you don't use enough water the beads don't get as big as they should and if you use too much they blow up and get a funny shape to them. It was fun experimenting with them and after all the playing around we finally put the decorations together and they looked great. I was not expecting how many actually came in the bag and there were so many i didn't even use half the bag. I was very disappointed to find out that in the shuffle trying to decorate the church someone threw away the remainder of the bag.

I'm not quite sure how much the little specks which make up the packet of dry pearls expand, but it only took a couple of pinches to create enough pearls to fill up a large 14" vase. There does seem to be a maximum size, about the size of a marble. They are very pretty and clear when using clear water, and look nice in a vase or a shallow flat bowl - great for diffusing light if you have a submersible floral LED light. After a couple of weeks they are still clear, I guess bacteria don't like them (though the water in between the pearls was a little cloudy). They're a lot of fun to play with too, a nice jelly like feeling in the hand.

Not impressive. I dropped them in water and let them soak as per direction...they were SO translucent it was a waste of money. Even when food coloring was added.

These were incredibly easy. I put them in a bucket, filled it with water, put the lid on it, and thenext day (my wedding day) they were ready. They looked perfect lit up with the submersible LED lights. These water pearls at my reception are what people are still talking about. My only warning--- people will want to touch them, squeeze them, throw them, roll them around, etc. I even had children filling their pockets with them because they thought the pearls there so much fun.
