5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fantastic
This album got to be one of the best pop (or whatever you call it) albums of the eighties. It`s packed with great stuff from the upbeat "I can hear your heartbeat" through the mesmerizing and carefree "hey you" to the dark and melancholy "candles". I listened to that album many times in 83 and the years thereafter, and it helped me through...

1.0 out of 5 stars Jokes on me - different version of "Texas" is awful!
I bought this album for ONE song only - Texas. Having lived in Austin, TX for the past few decades, I've heard this song countless times on the radio since it came out in the early 90's. Well lucky me - I went to buy it off Amazon and it turns out there are two version of the song, COMPLETELY unrelated. One is awesome and is part of another Chris Rea ablum "The Road to...

This album got to be one of the best pop (or whatever you call it) albums of the eighties. It`s packed with great stuff from the upbeat "I can hear your heartbeat" through the mesmerizing and carefree "hey you" to the dark and melancholy "candles". I listened to that album many times in 83 and the years thereafter, and it helped me through a great crisis in my life, especially the wonderful and almost heartbreaking "candles" . Just listen to that intro, magnificent !!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite album...nuff said., October 28, 1999

Chris Rea has to be one of the best, virtually unknown (at least in N America), blues/rock musicians at present. Every song on this album is worth listening to, a true rarity these days.

probably most of us came to know Rea with Josephine.. or On The Beach or The Road To Hell... or some of his other great worldwide successes...
Me, I came to him with the On The Beach album, made me listen from my cousin at age 14.. yes...really young!!
Another guy who transferred onto tape some of his vinyls for me, chose this Water Sign, and that it is really calm and quiete as a water surface.. this was the memory I had everytime I had a listen to that cassette...
Tha class of Love Strange Ways.. the late-recognised hit single I can Hear Your Heartbeat make this cds really lovely... just one fact... I do remember (if I'm not wrong) that on that tape, track 1, Nothing's Happening By The Sea was about 8 or 9 minutes long.. ont this cd only 4.19... hummmm.... strange...
anyway, If I bought it, it's worth it!!! :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Some Excellent Tracks, March 16, 1999

This review is from: Water Sign (Audio CD)
This album has two of Chris Rea's best tracks, in my opinion. The rocky, slightly sleazy, 'Let It Loose On Me', and the the weird 'Love's Strange Ways'. The rest are standard Chris Rea - melodic, reflective, and atmospheric, and none the worse for that.

Well lucky me - I went to buy it off Amazon and it turns out there are two version of the song, COMPLETELY unrelated. One is awesome and is part of another Chris Rea ablum "The Road to Hell" - I was able to confirm this by listening to the online sample. However, the album Water Sign did not have audio samples, so I assumed it was the same song and bought it. What a mistake - this version is horrible, as is most of the album. I wouldn't pay a dime for this album and I feel I've been cheated by Chris Rea and Amazon. I'll try to resell it, but I suspect I'll have to trash it (frankly where it belongs).
