Product Description

This mighty mite with its High-Flow pump tackles the largest of messes in any pool, spa or hot tub. The lightweight, cordless Catfish is very convenient to use and its Max-Cone Technology compacts all the dirt so more fits in the Filter Bag. The All-Purpose filter bag is easy to empty so hands do not touch the dirt.

After reading the negative feedback, I was hesitant to order this, but the concept is so perfect, I just had to try it.

I charged it for the recommended three hours and it performed better than I could have expected. One nice thing that I did not notice in the write-up is that the unit comes with two "slime socks" to filter very small particles. I did have to stop a bunch of times to clean these socks, but that's because of all the fine debris that I needed to pick up, and the unit did a really, really good job at cleaning the fine debris. (This is the exact reason that I purchased the unit.)

I am using this on an 18' round above ground pool and I was able to take the pool from "yuck" to "yay!" in about an hour. Keep in mind that it was only my first use, but if first impressions count for anything, I am very excited to use this great little device for years to come.

Well, where do I begin..oh yeah that's right this product is junk! It did not do anything that was mentioned on the item discription, it didn't do anything at all. When I contacted amazon they said that a third party seller was used, which was Hot Tub Warehouse. I contacted them they gave me the run around over the phone and said I had to submit a claim via e-mail. Once I did that, they were very quick to tell me that I could not get my money back on the product that was junk, because it was open and used. Which how in the world could you figure out if a product works or not without using it. I basically spent $80 for nothing. Wow I almost forgot it took almost 3 weeks for me to actually get the vacumn because Hot Tub Warehouse sent it to another woman with the same first name as me in a whole other state, and refused to overnight it to me because it would cost them too much, even though they where the reason for the screw up. In the end they only offered to have the manufacter replace the vacumn, but would not refund my money. So not only is the product horrible so is dealing with HOT TUB WAREHOUSE!

This is truly a must have product. We have a large inground pool, and it cleans it up quickly and easily. Great for the in between touch ups. I never bought the sand and silt bag because of the price, instead I use a cut down knee high nylon stocking, placed inside the bag it comes with and fold it over the rubber, this method picks up every last bit of sand (we live near the beach).

This is a good vacuum but it's not totally fantastic. I have to say that I am satisfied enough to keep this and not return it. Some people that have had problems might not have cleaned the bag frequently enough while using the vacuum. You really have to clean it every few minutes and then it sucks stuff up pretty well. And it's really a quick process to clean the bag so don't get lazy about it and you'll have much better results! There are good points and bad points...
The good:
picks up debris pretty well.
No hose attached which makes it easy to handle
The bad:
Charge doesn't hold long enough to vacuum entire 18 foot pool (remedy: I just vacuum most of it and then charge for a couple of hours more and then get back to the pool and finish the job)
Pole does not come with the vacuum (and they are expensive in my opinion!! so you have to dish out more money for the pole)
Micro bag really doesn't work because when you put it on it's impossible to close the bag cover, so it really is not even an option to use the micro bag (however, the regular bag basically does the trick so it's not terrible that I can't use the micro bag)

Overall, this is a pretty good vacuum. I'm happy to not have to attach it to a hose! I've read some complaints about turning it on and off. Really, it's not difficult. You just have to put you're entire hand around the bottom, get a good grip and twist so I wouldn't let those complaints stop you from purchasing this vacuum.

We have a swim spa by Cal Spas. Its construction is like a hot tub but it is larger -- about 8' x 15' and 4' deep. For the first year, we muddled along cleaning it before each use with hand-operated spa wand. Our swim spa is recessed about 3 feet with only the top foot above the deck level, which meant bending over to reach the bottom with the spa wand while pumping away by hand to do the cleaning. Given the size of the swim spa this was time consuming in addition to being awkward. I nearly always got both hands wet in the process. We use our swim spa all year round and actually more frequently in winter than in summer. It was no fun at all to be out laboriously cleaning the spa for 5-10 minutes in near or sub-freezing temperatures while the rest of the family peers through the window from the warm indoors waiting for the job to be done.

I began searching for an alternative solution and found the Pool Blaster Catfish. In addition to the Catfish, which does not come with a pole, I bought a "deluxe 3-piece telepole" for $35 (blue, 5'-15' long). The pole installed easily (it isn't practical to remove between uses and so needs to be stored with the pole intact once installed). We have had our Catfish since December 2007 and it is now April 2009. After over a year of regular use, it still looks and works like new! Cleaning the swim spa takes just a couple of minute now and is effortless and more effective compared to the spa wand. No more bending over or wet (frozen) hands. We love this product and completely recommend it to folks with a hot tub, swim spa or other small pool.

We live in the Seattle area and store our Catfish on the patio outside all year where it is plugged in between uses.
