Product Description

Pool Blaster Max works on any surface: concrete, tile, vinyl or fiberglass. The MAX's internal pump makes it a Super Powerful vacuum system, which is free of hoses, external pumps or electrical cords and enables it to operate completely free of any connection to the main filter system. It attaches to any pool pole for extended cleaning or can be used as a hand-held spot cleaner. Extra power for deep cleaning with its Super-High Flow pump located in the machine. The suction lasts longer since the bag holds more dirt and debris, tackling the largest of messes in the pool. The most effective way there is to clean a pool or spa. Easy empty bag so hands do not touch the dirt. Pool Blaster MAX is wall mountable for grab and go convenience.

Today I used my new Pool Blaster for the first time on my 16' Intex Salt Water pool. Dirt had blown into the pool...too much to use the pool vacuum and system filter. I ordered the Blaster plus additional micro-filter bags. When I received the Blaster, it had two micro-filter bags with it that were not advertised in the purchase description. I didn't need the additional bags since some were included, but I'll hang on to them anyway. It's like the included bags were an afterthought.

In any case, I charged the thing and used it the next morning. I ran it for over an hour and the motor never slowed. I filled two micro-filter bags to finish the job. This thing worked great for me. I was very careful not to get any water in the motor compartment as I have seen these units with totally rusted motors. Follow the directions and you should be good. The last motor I found rusted was in a unit that had water in it and was stored with the plug/switch still installed. The water was trapped in the unit all off season, making the motor a solid block of rust once the unit was opened and charged in spring.

Points to remember for this review that I had a hard time finding data on:
1. You need to have micro-filter bags to vacuum up sand and dirt effectively with this unit. The regular filter will allow dirt and sand to pass right through.
2. If you have an Intex pool, the pole that came with the pool will not fit this vacuum. You need a standard size pole.
3. Unit is designed to run for an hour, but mine ran much longer. Battery time is predicted to improve with more charging cycles.
4. Store it properly or you will rust the motor...especially in a salt water pool application.

We have purchased two of the water tech pool blaster max products and are very satisfied. It cleans our small pool(11'x14'x4') in about 15 minutes. It cleans our larger pool(36'xx16'x6') in 30-45 minutes depending on the amount of debris. Two comments that may be helpful.Always thoroughly drain the unit after using. Especially the battery compartment. Leaving the power switch off and the pool blaster on it's side during non-use has helped us to keep the battery dry and efficient when recharging. Also. the fine filter sleeve really works when it comes to picking up fine debris such as sand or dirt. This product is very compact, efficient and portable. No more priming lines and using our pool pump to clean which took at least an hour from start to finish.

I purchased this, took good care care of it, followed all the instructions. Agree it was great while it lasted, but it didn't last. I only got one season out of it, and had the same experience when I complained to Water Tech. Now I know, after reading other peoples experiences, exactly why Water Tech immediately launched into what sounded like a rehearsed speech about my "options" to get the unit repaired, all at great cost to me, all at least half what I paid for the unit. My local pool supply store stopped selling these last year because they were weary of angry customers trying to return it to the store.

If you can afford to buy a new poolbuster every year or two, then this product is for you!

I purchased this device for the 09 season. Believe the price was abt 200$ back then. It worked for a season but would not charge/function the following year. Water Tech cut me a deal and repaired for 100$. I got two seasons of use and again have the same problem. When speaking recently with WaterTech, they offered me a similar deal... repair return for another 100+$. I guess I would categorize this offer as "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."

It's a shame. This is a cool gadget that helps me clean the portions of the pool that my polaris 280 avoids like kryptonite. If you can afford to keep re-investing in this product, go for it. I've spent over 300$ for 3 seasons of use. Im opting to make a clamp to attach a pole to my trusted polaris so I can force-steer it towards "kryptonite zones" .

This cleaner works well and if you experience a lack of suction simply tie part of the bag off with a rubber band - basically cut the debris bag in half and suction will increase tremendously. The bag actually sits too close to the motor impeller opening - so when it starts to get a little full suction will drop off. This trick will keep your cleaner suction strong even when the bag is filling.

The overall design seems good, I've been using it everyday on my pool route and haven't had any charging issues or other problems - I did shorten the debris bag down to create more suction. I just keep the charging port well lubed with Magic Lube Silicone Lube to prevent water damage and make sure I drain the unit completely to prevent any motor damage. Simple steps to take so you aren't sending this thing into Warranty. I will update this review over time and let you know how my unit is holding up longer term.

This is "Throw-away" technology at its worst. The built-in rechargeable battery is not replaceable or serviceable by the owner. When the battery is shot, owner must package the entire device (minus nose cup and brush head) and it's charger and deliver it to Water Tech at your own expense. Then after Water Tech examines the unit, they will advise owner of the cost of repairs. A new battery will cost about $50.00 plus tax. If the box containing the battery is also damaged, it will cost about $150.00 plus tax. They will pay return shipping.
In my experience, rechargeable batteries are "neverready' when you are and have a short life span. It would be cheaper and less hassle to throw the Pool Blaster away and buy a new one every year. Or not buy one in the first place.
