This review is from: Water Trails of Western Massachusetts: AMC Guide to Paddling Ponds, Lakes and Rivers (Paperback)
I bought this guide for my husband. We both grew up in western MA and have learned a lot about our own "backyard waterways". He quotes the book while we are hiking or kayaking. Some of the information is much needed, like directions to boat launches,(which you would never be able to find without a guide), how much portage, how large the waterbodies are, how many miles the rivertrips are, safety tips, what kind of boats to buy for the local waters and much more. What I was surprised to see in the book was info on how to get to some very nice trails to hike near each of the lakes/ponds or rivers. The author also spent some time noting what different wildlife, and plants you might see. My husband has recommended this book to his friends who kayak or canoe.
