5.0 out of 5 stars Very Handy Book, April 30, 2011

After reading how to plant massive amounts of veggies in a small area, it's nice to see a book that lets me have a garden without the water bill. So far everything I planted has started to sprout, but the plants spaced tightly and watered daily are still small and the ones I've spaced quite aways from each other and haven't watered are visibly larger and look more robust. - So far so good I'll see how they're doing in the fall

5.0 out of 5 stars gardening while conserving water...GREAT!, January 18, 2011

I have used this as my garden bible along with Steve's other books. Last year, I had the busiest year of my life and after I planted my garden, I basically abandoned it. I was amazed how much produce I harvested with almost no nurturing care and only watering 2 or 3 times right after planting! It was the best corn we ever grew and the melons were very sweet! I recommend it! I believe he has a newer version of this out but I haven't seen it. I just love the principles!

I have used the French intensive gardening previously, but have noticed that I never seemed to get the garden watered enough. Steve explains it here. If my soil is fluffed up into a raised bed it makes sense that it would dry out faster! I hate wasting water as I am not on a well and I pay for my water usage!

I liked the varieties that he recommended in this book. Well done!
