1.0 out of 5 stars Soap Opera but it has the Stargate and scifi does that mean anything?, November 1, 2009
This review is from: Stargate Universe Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video)
This show to a simple point is drawn out and boring. Here's why. 1st off this seems like a soap opera and the only thing that makes me remind that it's sci-fi is the fact there is a ship that seems to be in the background somewhere. 2nd these stories are drawn out and terribly slow paced with no action and it really feels that the story could have been collaged or told in 2 min. I'm for stories that are character driven but if they want good character writing and clever lines look at Smallville. Anyway I knew this show would bomb after hearing they where stuck on a ship moving through space with no way home felt like star trek voyager, anyway I thought after watching the first 3 episodes which was incredibly boring to seat through I thought I would give it 5 episodes to get better and I watched the 6th and I'm like, this better not be dragged out all the way to the end of season one like this. I'm only holding on b/c it has Stargate attached to this series and if I was a new comer I would have thought it was a reality show if it wasn't for the ship in the background and incredibly boring one to. Oh and btw I most say something about the sex scenes in one of the episodes. It wasn't even necessary. It seemed so cheesy and out of place its like they thro it in b/c they new the show was boring and incredibly dull they wanted to wake you up and put some spice in it and make you remember your watching a story. Sighs. Note to mention it seems that the doctor is from "Battle Star Galactic". Anyway this story series is a pass. But on another note I well say one thing great. The ship is interesting looking. The Kino Balls that float for exploration was cool. and the Cameo from SG-1 was nice and just to through in my 2 cents just for the hell of it I'm hoping they have a goa'uld mole among them. I think that would wake up me up and viewers who are already falling asleep from this show. I'm going to hold in a few more epps and see if I well still be awake or fall alseep dreaming of better days of Stargate.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Grown Up Stargate, December 27, 2010
This review is from: Stargate Universe Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video)
This series is a one of a kind show with spectacular graphics. It's more grown up than the 2 Series before it, and brings the Stargate Lore to the forefront. The show gets better and better up until the end, and leaves you on the edge of your seat wanting more. I recommend this to any Stargate fan!

4.0 out of 5 stars Slow to start but picking up..., November 6, 2009

DCG (Washington) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stargate Universe Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video)
I too thought that the story was dragging out a bit without solid characters... I still intend to watch through the season. I enjoyed the last one I watched, Water, a good story. I would like to see some interaction with others in the universe, mainly for more character opportunities. I also hope they will eventually figure out how to control the ship. I think they are still lacking in great characters. Think Atlantis and SG-1. Now there were some characters to keep you watching! I was heartbroken when they ended. Maybe they just need to clarify the "team". Right now I'm thinking the braniac gamer-best character so far, the pilot and his girlfriend, the military dudes(2) and the doctor-who is an extremely unlikable guy-but necessary in my mind. I am a Stargate fan and will give this show time to grow.
