5.0 out of 5 stars A must for anyone who is serious about watercolor.
Wiegardt's style is classical in his use of the correct basics while still being very expressive and loose. His step by step instructions are understandable and easy to follow. His style is right on the mark for those interested in learning how to develop that elusive "loose" style. If you like Edgar Whitney and Skip Lawrence you'll love Wiegardt!

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars Painterly or Sloppy?
The author admits he is not a detail-oriented or patient person. His "painterly" style is a little too-loose for me. I had a hard time figuring out what some of the marks in his paintings were or what they represented, and the colors often seemed muddy. Some people like this slap-dash style; it you do, this is the book for you.

Eric Weigardt is a favorite artist because of his style. His creativity inspires me to get to my brushes! I especially like his theory on establishing values in a painting and I was attracted by his stlyle of wet spatters and drips.
