This a very good book. It covers many aspects of painting in watercolor, including some difficult-to-find tips like mixing convincing shadow colors, working with color triads (3 colors) to create mood, and a list of common colors that are transparent, opaque, staining, or granulating.

There are troubleshooting tips to help the beginner who wants to achieve certain effects but cannot figure out what went wrong.

The book has only 127 pages, but it is fiiled with useful information about techniques like washes, glazing, layering, masking and spatter. There is also some information about the use of unconventional aids like stamping, sponging, alcohol and plastic wrap. Every page is filled with Ms. Nice's realistic yet magical artwork.

Where to use transparent or opaque watercolor, and how to test pigments for transparency would have been some welcome additional information.

Overall, it is a good book to own, especially for the beginner to intermediate levels.

This book was suggested for me since I am a relatively newcomer to watercolor. The person who suggested it has been a painter and teacher for over 70 years(she is 95 and still teaches a small group). She was right its a great book for people such as myself.

Great book, but not simple enough for a total beginner like myself.

Claudia Nice is a one of a kind watercolorist and her teaching/writing is a wonderful tool for the painter who seeks to improve or expand their technique. Her illustrations are perfect for the one who wishes to paint nature as it truly is.

Nice's books continue to be among the top watercolor books in print.

The book is well done for a beginner to watercolor. Illustrations very easy to follow. The book was delivered in a timely fashion. No complaints.

Watercolor Made Simple with Claudia Nice is a wonderful book for learning the bare bones of watercolor. It has valuable information on the watercolor wheel. You can keep this book in your library and have an excellent reference in understanding the quality of watercolor. She offers the simple straight forward discussion. Some people may have wished it was printed in a good clean type face as the introduction rather than in typed script. It is a nice script with flourishes. Some I have talked to are distracted by the type. Otherwise a book to buy and maintain in your library in any form available.

I own several watercolor books by Claudia Nice. There is a lot to be learned from each. There is one thing that might interfere with your experience using her books. The text in the books of hers that I own is printed in cursive. That may not sound like a problem, but it can be. Cursive, even when printed by a machine and completely uniform, just takes more concentration to follow than regular type. I find it to be distracting when working from one of these books. Also several of the color charts are difficult to follow. There are a couple I have never figured out. The common problem of accurate color in the illustrations of a painting book is accented by the importance and size of the color charts in her books. So see it before you purchase. She is a beautiful painter, and there is a great deal of information in each book, but.....they can be frustrating to use.

Purchased it as a gift for my wife and she loves it. It's beautifully illustrated and has simple straightforward exercises to follow. Only wish we had bought it before all the others.

This is one of the best books I've read on watercolor. It has very simple, easily understandable & helpful instructions on how to paint with watercolors. It is mainly addressed to beginners. Following the instructions of this book, anyone can make its first steps in watercolor and paint almost everything. I've read also other books by this writer and they were all very helpful (unlike other books on the same subject). I keep coming back to them, although I'm not a beginner anymore. Highly recommended!

I love this book! I have almost all of ms. nice's books and think they are the greatest! I look at them over and over and hope somday to draw and paint as well as she does. Her books are beautiful!! also very helpful !
