What Do I Do?,
This review is from: Watercolored Pearls: A Novel (Paperback)
When was the last time you read something so riveting, tears rolled down your face, leaving you to feel tranquility like you had been washed in the blood of Jesus? Before reading Watercolored Pearls by Stacy Hawkins Adams, I could truly say I do not recall ever having this experience, and if I did...I do not remember it. This I do know, I will remember.
Three friends, going through their own trials and tribulations, get a revelation from a woman of great wisdom, who received her wisdom from another woman. How often can we say that we have been inclined to reach out and touch someone else's life and make a difference? Serena McDainels, a stay-at-home mother of two year-old twin boys, is a minister's wife. She and her husband, Micah, had to make some changes when he was let go from being the minister of one of the up-and-coming churches in Richmond, Virginia. Though she is a woman of God, Serena fights with her own internal demons. What lesson will she learn when she leaves that weekend? Ericka Tyler Wilson, a mother and interior designer, stands at the crossroad where old love and new love are the signs marking the road. Trying to decide which way to go, she turns to reading the Bible and praying. But in order to get the answers to her prayers, she has to be willing to listen. What words would be said to her that weekend, which would lead her in the path chosen for her? Tawana Carter, a young mother and student at Harvard law school, pushes herself to get ahead, but in the wrong ways. When she is offered the chance to intern at a topnotch law firm in Richmond for the summer, she lets one night affect how she thinks of herself. Finally, her past has caught up with her. She has to decide what to do, continue to run from her past or stand up and face it. What does she take away from that weekend with friends? The Lord places angels in our lives as he sees fit. It may not be when we want it but He is always on time. Stacy Hawkins Adams poured her heart and soul into this book. I have not read any of her other works, but that did not stop me from picking up this one. This book did not miss a beat, and it had me crying and touched my heart to the core. I recommend Watercolored Pearls to everyone, whether you enjoy Christian fiction or not. There is a life lesson that you will learn while reading it. Jennifer Coissiere APOOO BookClub

Stacy Hawkins Adams' new novel "Watercolored Pearls" was simply amazing. Stacy grabed your attention from the very begining of the book with her God-fearing characthers. She took you on a journey of three women trying to find themselves and in turn strengthen their faith in God. Each of the women have their on set of problems, but they all come together through love.
Thanks Stacy!!!!!

Watercolored Pearls takes us on a journey of three very different women who share a wonderful history and fantastic friendship. However the journey to where they are now wasn't easy getting there. All three are at crossroads in their life and only God in their friendship can move them forward. Can these women press forward unto the blessings God has in store for them?
Serena prayed that she would become a mother, when God blessed her she had twins. God delivered Erika from her husband and now he's back asking for forgiveness and a second chance. Tawana has finally heard her calling from God but her future is clouded with the past. The author did a wonderful job telling each characters story and showing the pain, and redemptive powers of God. How His love and mercy can and will sustain us all if you believe. The parable used in the story was an excellent theme to expound on His grace and security in Jesus. Next on my list from the authors Spirit and Soul series is "The Someday List" Missy Readers' Paradise

This was a very good book. I really enjoyed it. When I first start reading it I thought back to the book "Nothing But the right thing" and as I continued to read I realized that these 2 books were connected and with reading this book it gave me a further undersatnding of these ladies and the things they were facing as friends. More so as they each tried to find their place in society it took Charlotte to help them to take an inner look within themselves and find out that they are all special in the eye of God and that they need to look to Him for guidance. It help them to see that each one of them are special in some way, and everyone have some type of problem that they don't want anyone else to know about, but it is so true what happens in the dark eventually come to the light.
Stacy Adams is a wonderful writer and I enjoy reading her books.

This is a good book! If you love happy endings, but realistic endings, this is definitely a good book. This book is the third out of three. If anyone is considering this book...I say get the 1st book: Speak To My Heart, and the 2nd book: Nothing But The Right Thing. Each book picks up right where the other left off. The third one ends good, but you feel that there might be another coming in the future...and I can't wait.

The crossroads of life...,

This review is from: Watercolored Pearls: A Novel (Paperback)
There comes a time in life when we all must make crucial choices; critical decisions that will determine the course of our life. And it's during these times that we may find ourselves crying out to God in despair, and yes, sometimes even questioning His infinite wisdom. It is also during these periods that we realize our strength and ability to endure the complexities of life in spite of the obstacles we must face. In Watercolored Pearls by Stacy Hawkins Adams, Serena, Tawana and Erika find themselves in this very situation.
For Serena, becoming a mother was one of her greatest desires, although it took a while for the dream to finally become a reality. Serena's family is now complete - a loving, God fearing husband, and two adorable, yet rambunctious twin boys. Sounds ideal right? Well, even though Serena rejoices at having her prayers answered, at times she's overwhelmed by feelings of doubt about being a good mother, and whether or not she made the right decision giving up the career she loved. After leaving her abusive husband Elliott, Erika is finally at a point in her life where everything is on track and going smoothly, including having a new love interest. But, confusion and doubt begin to set in when her ex starts sending her letters, asking and hoping for a chance at reconciliation. Tawana has finally realized her dream of becoming a lawyer. But the skeletons in her closet are dancing, threatening to expose all of her dirty little secrets. Stand firm and face the demons or tuck tail and run is the dilemma she finds herself up against. As each woman struggles with these personal problems and more, they all come together as a support system for each other. With the help of Charlotte, the executive director of the shelter Erika took refuge in, and a bag of three loose pearls of varying colors, Serena, Tawana, and Erika must each decide the path they will take. Will they choose God's way or their own way? Once again I'm impressed with Hawkins' latest literary endeavor! Not only is her writing crisp, clear and concise, she has also mastered the ability to create a compelling tale that not only keeps readers interested from the first page to the last, but also teaches some very timely lessons about faith and trusting in God without being overly preachy. It is apparent with each novel that Hawkins has taken time to study and learn her craft, resulting in a quality product each and every time. Renee Williams All the Buzz Literary Reviews

Watercolored Pearls was the first selection of our newly formed Zion Baptist Church Women's Ministry Book Club; an an excellent choice it was. A very good read, an easy read filled with spiritual guidance based on Biblical principles presented in a "non-preachy" way. The club liked the book so much that we named our club "Watercolored Pearls".
