4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book Really Works!!
I just recieved this book and have been on the diet for 2 days now and have lost over 6lbs already. I have not seen my legs this small in a long time. I will admit I was a little concerned about getting enough protien and some of the dangers of soy. But after some research on this book and the diet itself, I am no longer concerned. A good rule of thumb to stick by is...

3.0 out of 5 stars "Low-Fat Diet" is Unfair Criticism
"Bad Information, Waste of Money" is an unfair review. I'm quite familiar with the 80's low-fat mentality, and these diets don't inhibit but encourage the use of wheats (whole wheat bread is supposedly a great choice), dairy (skim milk), and honey. The major criticism of low-fat diets are that is actually contributed to America being overweight. Let's take skim milk for...

A good rule of thumb to stick by is everything is good in moderation. You get plenty of protien through chicken, fish, and tofu. This book is excellent on pinpointing the culprit for your symptoms. I've had some of these symptoms from a teenager and never knew why. After being on it for only a few days I have never felt better. I would recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars I would advise every woman to read this book!, November 6, 2003

This review is from: The Waterfall Diet: Lose Up to 14 Pounds in 7 Days By Controlling Fluid Retention (Paperback)
I loved this book from beginning to end. It explains how sometimes being overwight doesn't necessarily mean having too much fat, but fluid retention could be one of the causes. If you are one of those people that is always on a diet and performing lots of execercise and still find it hard to shed those extra pounds, you will find this book extremely helpful. Some bits are quite scientific but still easy to read and well explained. The book initially helps you to find out if fluid retention could be your problem, what are the reasons that causes it and how to fix the problem. The book offers a diet program, easy to follow with easy and delicious recepies. I tried the program and followed the advices and it works! To help speed up the proccess of fluid elimination try some diuretic herbal teas as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars "Low-Fat Diet" is Unfair Criticism, October 10, 2008

"Bad Information, Waste of Money" is an unfair review. I'm quite familiar with the 80's low-fat mentality, and these diets don't inhibit but encourage the use of wheats (whole wheat bread is supposedly a great choice), dairy (skim milk), and honey. The major criticism of low-fat diets are that is actually contributed to America being overweight. Let's take skim milk for example, as it was increasingly touted as "healthy" milk, people inadvertently increased their consumption of sugar -- in order to make this milk palatable, the fat is removed and sugar is added. Or let's take a famous brand that made good on the low-fat craze, the SnackWells company, which produced packaged cookies and snacks just for the low-fat crowd. These items are highly processed, and either contain sugar or artificial sweetener, and most certain contain wheat. All of them.

So, people that are trying to eat low-fat diets are actually consuming more sugar and toxins. And what is the body's reaction to toxin? It wraps it in fat and stores it in fat tissue in order to protect the digestive tract from being damaged.

Of course, I don't think The Waterfall Diet closes the book on the perfect diet, but it is very important to note that many Americans have food intolerances that they are not aware of...and never would be, until they eliminate them and see their body react positively. The False Fat Diet also addresses this, and I believe both these books make a significant contribution to diet-methodology. Though I agree that soy is not a health food, THE STANDARD AMERICAN DIET is MEASURABLY improved by the application of the principles of this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, November 17, 2001
This review is from: Waterfall Diet (Paperback)
The chapters on food allergies, the reasons behind intolerances and the way they lead to water retention are very good and beautifully illustrated. I bought my mother the book a few years ago. She used it for three days and then gave up because she couldn't stop going to the toilet. So it obviously works.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, August 29, 2007

I read this book mostly because I hoped for a rapid weight-loss miracle. I found the recommendations far too stringent for my working mom lifestyle and I wasn't ready to make such an extreme commitment, but there were interesting suggestions regarding food allergies in this book and using them helped me realize that dairy products seem to be an allergy for me. It's interesting reading with a degree, I've found, of validity - but I'm just not sure about the extreme stuff.

1.0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE BOOK, November 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Waterfall Diet: Lose Up to 14 Pounds in 7 Days By Controlling Fluid Retention (Paperback)
This book was useless for Americans, all the food in the recipes is unavailable in America or we call it something different. The measurements are in metric and no conversions are provided. There was too much so called medical jargon and nothing to back up their claims. In addition after trying the diet (as close as I could) I actually retained more fluid. Complete waste of money and time to read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to eat diet foods for me, August 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book was one that took the longest to receive in the mail for some reason .I read the book and found i knew half of the things it said to eat for water loss .Then it gives a 7 day diet I wish I liked the things on it but I dont eat the food it says to have . Soy and tofu etc I dont mind eating healthy but there does not seem to be substitutions in the 7 day diet . I cant find Azuki beans anywhere either except online and they are expensive .
So I guess the 15 dollars on the book I spent may have been in vain . I was so hopeful too awaiting its arrival ..who knows maybe if I find the stuff in the book one day I can try the diet .
