This book turned out to be a lot lower in quality than I expected. Although it appears that it was printed, the overall quality is that of good photocopies. The photos range from acceptable in quality to severely blurred or out of focus. The selection criteria for the falls included is hard to deduce. The introduction lists as the first "parameter" "to photograph lesser-known, yet still awe-inspiring falls, eliminating those in most National Parks and most of those already acclaimed, ...". In practice they have ignored the falls of Yosemite, but have included Niagara, Multnomah, and Lower Yellowstone falls. One fall I have visited recently, Tokopah, is listed as a 60 foot horsetail 3/4 mile from the trail head, and accompanying the description is a photo of what appear to be some rocks in the river. Tokopah Falls is actually a 1200 foot cascade down the back end of Tokopah Valley, nearly 2 miles from the trail head. All I can figure out is that they hiked the trial to the first thing that looked like a waterfall, took a picture, declared victory, and withdrew. They sure missed a great waterfall, however, and so will anyone following their directions. This book is probably worth purchasing for someone trying to locate waterfalls in states or areas where no other guides are available, but potential purchasers should be aware of the marginal quality of the product and the possibility that information it contains may be incomplete or incorrect.

This book shows the author spent a great deal of time researching the beauty of falls in USA. Brought out in excellent detail the type of waterfalls enjoyed in this country. The location of each fall is especially descriptive. Will be easy to find in my travels. Highly recommended as a book for all to enjoy. Who doesn't love to look at a FALL?
