In fairness, I ordered this a year or two ago from Amazon, as I had broken one of my set of Lucerne wine glasses - so perhaps things have changed. However, there had been a review posted back then by someone else suspecting the product was not legitimate Waterford. I ordered it anyway, and it did not match the quality of my other Lucerne wine glasses at all. The stem was much thicker, and the base of the glass itself was also much thicker glass than all of the others. it was noticeably different as my kids even asked at a holiday dinner, "Why is that one glass different than all the rest?"

I should have returned it to Amazon, but at that point we had already used it. However, be aware and check your product when it arrives to make sure it is the real deal. I VERY infrequently write reviews, but felt it was important to share this one. I just ordered two more (directly from Macy's this time) and realized I never posted a review about this problem on Amazon, so I am doing so now. It is an expensive item and you should be getting what you pay for. Just carefully check the product when it arrives -- it should be slender, not thick and bulky. Good luck!

Update 6/11: The new stems from Macy's matched the original slender design that is so beautiful. I also contacted Waterford who said that no changes have ever made to the original design of the Lucerne stems, but that they have had to begin outsourcing production to others which may account for the discrepancy in quality. Recommendation is still to purchase at a store where you can see the product first hand before buying. Good luck!

I love these wine glasses. What more is there to say, except that they are expensive but gorgeous, very lovely to look at and fine to hold and to sip from. Amazon, get over it! We do not need twenty words.
