GET OVER IT,
By Numbfeet (San Francisco) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Watering Ghost Garden (Audio CD)
Creeper lagoon makes some of the catchiest and most soothing guitar pop since I can remember. I don't know of any band that i would rather listen to when it comes to dream pop. Every song on this EP is excellent and highly reccommended. Yet, despite this, whiny indie brats are finding any way to trash it.Yeah, it's hi-fi. Incredibly Hi-fi for that matter. So, it only makes sense that old Creeper Lagoon fans are a little turned off. Get over the fact that it's a little over produced. And when you do, you will realize that the songs are still catchy and dreamy in their essence, and they haven't really changed their song structures. If Creeper becomes a commercial entity, they will still have my support. It is not like they've changed their style much at all. Only the production. Get over your oversized low-fi only ego's and just listen.

Moving through the boggy lagoon to the blue sea,
By Christopher A. Anderson (Overland Park, KS United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Watering Ghost Garden (Audio CD)
Creeper Lagoon's first album "I Become Small and Go", was a CD filled with every imaginable instrument possible, while at the same time still maintaining that lo-fi feel, sort of a happy-go-lucky Sebadoh/Folk Implosion. Beneath the layers of headphone sounds are catchy and intense rythms whose meaning is at times lost in the music, which isn't always a bad thing. With the new EP, you wish they would hurry up and put out more. Songs like "Centipede Eyes" and "My Friends Adore You" show their growth as quite ingenious studio workers, who I can only imagine put to good use their Dreamworks cash. Their music is often the kind you might hear at a fun little party where everyone is laidback but energetic, no airs are put on, but they want to lay out some good sounds. The power of their guitar work can be much more truly appreciated live, where they are currently out with The Dandy Warhols.

I miss Creeper Lagoon.,

One or three times an album, Creeper Lagoon would write the perfect pop song.
Regardless of whether or not you like the rest of the mid-tempo, glossy rock of theirs that would be perfect on any summer night sunset drive, "Centipede Eyes" and "Roman Hearts" are worth getting this CD alone.
