Historical Romance and Fantasy Rolled up in One Great Read, April 30, 2006
This review is from: The Waterlord (Mass Market Paperback)
Before the full moon wanes, Klaus Lindegren, the fey Prince of Fossegrim must find a human mate and beget his heir or lose his immortality and his kingdom beyond the waterfalls.
Lady Rebecca "Becca" Gildersleeve is fleeing a marriage of convenience to a man she abhors when her carriage turns over in a storm and is almost swept away by the river. Klaus, posing as a foreign count on a visit to England hauls her to safety. The moment he see her, he believes she is the chosen one.
Becca is undeniably attracted to her handsome rescuer and grateful for his protection from her angry father. She is also curious about her mysterious and seductive host. One night, she follows him through the mist to a nearby waterfall. She believes she is dreaming when he dives gloriously naked into the shimmering water.
Torn between his duty to his people and his growing attraction for the woman he must abandon at the end of the moon's last quarter, Klaus assists Becca to deal with her unwanted betrothal. Can Becca accept him for what he is? Can he go against the gods and his destiny? The questions aren't easy and the answers are a surprise.
In this imaginative novel based on Norse mythology, Ms. Thompson brings to life two enchanting worlds: Fossegrim, the world beyond the waterfall, full of strange beauty, ancient magic and exotic creatures-both good and evil; and the parallel world of Regency England. If you like romantic historicals and fantasies, this novel rolls them up into one wonderful read and a keeper of a book.

Wonderful Read!, May 21, 2006

After reading THE RAVENCLIFF BRIDE, I anxiously awaited Dawn Thompson's next romance. I wasn't disappointed. THE WATERLORD surpassed my expectations. Her story wove historical and fantasy romance into an exciting read. If you've read and liked BRIDE, you'll love THE WATERLORD.
Fans of both historical romance and fantasy will find this a great read.
