5.0 out of 5 stars For under $100, this is the best pen out there, June 24, 2006

I have recently been collecting fountain pens, and due to my budget, I've been mainly buying pens under $100. I found out about the Waterman Harmonie from a local pen store and picked it up.

It is a well balanced pen with the cap posted. It is slim, but has a good feel in the hand. It has enough metal on it to give it some heft, but it is not heavy.

The fine nib is superb. The medium one is good as well, but I prefer fine nibs. The only problem I have with it is that the tip is not as smooth as I would like. Otherwise, no skipping, no pooling. It gives an even, clean line every time with multiple different kinds of ink I've used. The pen comes with a converter which is the standard Waterman converter.

The only complaints I have are that the gold trim is starting to flake off the clip on my pen. I would recommend the chrome trim which will likely be less noticeable. Keep in mind though that I use my pen every day in the hospital, so it gets quite a bit of abuse.

I would highly recommend this fountain pen for those in the market. For under $100, the only other pen that would rival it would be the Pelikan m215.

PRO:

For under $100, one of the best out there

Excellent nibs

Writes better than most pens

Well weighted and balanced

CON:

Gold trim flaky

The cap doesn't look like a classic Waterman

Not offered in a lot of color options

Could be a little smoother while writing
