An amazing piece of work, July 25, 2006
This review is from: Watermelon Oranges (Audio CD)
I waited anxiously for "Watermelon Oranges" to come out, having bought Foy's first EP "Live Sessions & The Birth of the Toilet Tour" and been amazed by his writing style and powerful voice. The producers of the TV show Grey's Anatomy heard him and included his song "Gabriel and the Vagabond" in an episode of their show, and he toured with Bonnie Raitt this spring.
I was not disappointed by the follow up to his first EP. Don't be put off by getting just 5 songs, each song could be the lead track, they are all good songs. "Homebird" is a gorgeous song about childhood, simple acoustic style arrangement with smooth gospel background vocals and Foy's masterful delivery, telling us the story.. "Leave but nothing, tell me everything", which is what Foy does on Watermelon Oranges. I can't wait to hear what he does next. It's only a matter of time till the rest of the universe finds out about him. Bravo!

Incredible!!!!, September 13, 2006
This review is from: Watermelon Oranges (Audio CD)
This EP, along with Foy's prior EP "Live Sessions and The Birth of the Toilet Tour" and the track "Gabriel and the Vagabond," is what good music is all about. Foy's ability to blend musical styles, combined with his deeply emotional and poignant lyrics, leave the listener wanting more and more. As a fan who believes Foy could be remembered in the same vein as Dylan and other masterful storytellers, I long for the day when he releases a full album. What we have now is "Watermelon Oranges" (and, of course, "Gabriel" and "the Live Sessions") and, while there are only five wonderfully crafted songs, it's a must-have for any music lover!

Foy Vance...believe it., September 9, 2006
This review is from: Watermelon Oranges (Audio CD)
Talent that haunts. Tunes that remain with you. Lyrics that slip into your brain when nothing else of much importance is there to take up space. Foy Vance's is a voice that has a purpose and direction.
