My old Waterpik SM 2U shower head finally gave out on me after more than 20 years. It had cracks around it and had started to leak.

I found a great buy on a new one and ordered two (one for me and one for my son). I got them today.

The new one might LOOK like the old one, but it is not made nearly as good. My old Waterpik SM 2U shower head is at least twice as heavy as this new one is. The new one seems to be all plastic. I figured that was just the way everything is going these days though and screwed it on.

I used plumbers tape around the joints and got a good connection with the threads. Leaking around the threads should have been the least of my worries. Where the ball actually pivots in the shower head, water was squirting out all over the place.

I had to tighten the thing up so much that the shower head can barely be moved now. Needless to say, I am very disappointed. I should have paid more and bought one locally so that I could have returned it.

The company that makes these things should be ashamed of themselves. What used to be an excellent product is now just another piece of plastic crap.

I don't know if the shower head will eventually seat against the pivot ball or not. If it doesn't, I will chalk this up as a bad experience and go with another brand.

We will see.

You haven't taken a shower if you haven't used the classic waterpik. I have owned them over and over again and love every minute in the shower with them. I hope that this model is always available. I have heard that the newer ones aren't as good, but I haven't tried them so I really don't know. All I know is this is worth having forever!

Love the classic waterpick showerhead - great pressure. I would consider it as having 3, not 5, very serviceable stream options. However, after a year, is leaking from the connection at the head (not due to requiring new washer) even after removing/ reinstalling / tightening. Love the showerhead, just hoped to not have to replace in a year.
