I like, and have used this for scuba diving. It works good as a compass. Because I wear a wetsuit, and all wetsuits compress smaller with depth, the strap would get loose at depth. It was not practical to mount this unit with the hoze mount, because it would have such a drag and snag profile in the water. I removed the band, and used shock cord (read bungee) as a wrist mount. I cross threaded 2 peices through the original mounting screws, and tied knots in the cord. This works much better, because with suit compression infinately variable due to changing depth constantly, the shock cord keeps it from moving and being loose. The compass itself is one of the BEST I have ever used. I would reccommend all serious divers to shock cord wrist mount this unit for a better, more secure and comfortable fit. It just slips over my gloves and wetsuit arm right into place. The lubber line and degreee markings are easy to see and use under water, and the magnetic platform moves even when not level, it is fairly forgiving.

Tried it in July. Well... I got just what I paid for - a cheap compass. And it showed. Performs ok in a perfectly horizontal position, but is very unforgiving underwater: when tilted just a bit, swings randomly left and right or hesitates. Gave me hard time during underwater navigation swim. Finally, I gave up and bought a different instrument - more expensive but reliable. I basically regard my purchasing this Promate compass a waste of money.

This diving compass is the least expensive one I could find and is better than some of the more expensive ones I have seen. It can be used on your wrist or attached to a hose (for example the high pressure hose that runs to your pressure guage).

It's a cheap compass yet sturdy and does the job so far. The wrist wrap is decent too. Not bad if you're looking for a cheap compass.

I liked the fact that it can be either worn or hooked to the gauges hose. The numbers are written with very thin font making it hard to read. In addition, the viewing window on the front is hard to use. The degrees are not seen easy which makes it unpractical to use.

Amazon site should place more pictures of the product to make it easier for the customers to view what they are really getting.

The material is good.. but its design is bad.

Have had this compass for a couple of years now and is still working great, for the price it is a good deal. It can stick a little if you don't hold it perfectly level. Also if you look straight down at the degrees it is reversed , so you are forced to look at the side port. Other then that it is a great product.

I agree with the previous reviewer who found that underwater it was a pain, it was very unstable. You had pretty much stop in the water and wait for the darn thing to settle to get any kind of a reading. I found it to be pretty much useless on a dive while trying low viz navigation.
Gotta buy a GOOD compass

I had bought the same compass in mid summer, and on my second dive, only down two 60 feet and it broke. Was not happy at all. I had to return to the surface just to find my way back to my starting point. Wasted Dive! I quess you get what you pay for. (Promate was good on the refund)
