Waters of The Wilderness,
By Rolland Love "Rolland Love a.k.a. Silas Goodr... (Overland Park, Kansas) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Waters Of The Wilderness - The Sights and Sounds of Canoe Country (DVD)
I hear the call of a Loon through fog rising off crystal clear water and a golden glow is cast on the surface by a spectacular sunrise. I glide past rocky bluffs where colorful flowers share the shore line with swaying cattails and green lily pads. I float silently toward tumbling rapids and a hidden waterfall, a blaze of red and yellow maple trees nestled in a pine forest cover a landscape dotted with white birch trees. A beaver appears and swims along the shoreline.
The mellow sound track, without narration and the beauty of the land with butterflies, birds and insects sets a stage that captures the feel of Native Americans who have lived in boundary waters for thousands of years. I feel the spirits of those who passed long ago as I paddle through their sacred land. If you've spent time in the boundary waters of the Superior National Forest, you'll treasure this video. If you have never been there, Hargis's vivid cinematography that captures the unspeakable beauty will make you want to go, soon. The Ozark Riverways and Waters of the Wilderness by Dave Hargis are two DVD productions that every sportsman and those who love the outdoors should have in their collection.

I was looking for something to use while on my rowing machine that would give me the visual effect of rowing along a waterway. I thought this would be a water-level trip in a canoe as it paddles through pristine wilderness waters, viewing the water and the shore as it passes by. Instead, it is a slide show of beautiful scenery and nature set to ho-hum new age music. Very static and frankly pretty boring. The visual equivalent of prozac.
