Having seen some of the documented Chinese working conditions on TV, that wouldn't surprise me.

This is absolute junk! Not only is it very poorly and cheaply made, but I'm afraid to drink the distilled water that comes from it for fear of metal poisoning! It is advertized as being all stainless steel, and looks that way in the pictures, but the picture does not show you the underside and inner parts of the coolant tray assembly. The water coolant tray assembly where the distilled water drips from is NOT made of stainless steel, but instead, some rough and dirty metal alloy that contaminates the water and makes it taste horrible! It doesn't matter how much you clean it, or what you clean it with, or how many litres of water you boil, the water that comes out has a sticky feel to it and a strange metallic taste. This is a rip-off! Buyer beware!

I purchased this as a gift for someone else. When he opened it, it was clear that the product was poorly conceived and poorly made. The pot is stainless steel, but way too thin. The rest of it is thin and poorly soldered. The one I purchased arrived broken and could not be used. Not worth the money.

I have purchased this and returned promptly. All I had to do is take a close look. Hope to spare you the waste of time I have included pictures of the waterwise ww1600.

A great concept. A great design. But sending it to China to have it made was a mistake. Some of the parts appear to be an unknown pot metal alloy and the soldering is sloppy and made with God-knows-what.

Listen, if you suspect the quality of your water, you certainly shouldn't trust its purification to cooking in Chinese metal.

AT best this is a poorly made, vastly overpriced piece of junk. At worst, who knows what is in this metal and solder and what it's leaching into your water.

I really like this stainless steel water distiller. I wanted to avoid anything that utilizes plastic and this was the only thing I could find. I've been using it for almost a year. My wife and I distill and remineralize ALL of our drinking and cooking water so we distill about 10-12 gallons a week give or take. When used properly I only have to refill the pan and the tiers about every 1.5 to 2 hours. The water tastes amazing! I'm not even exaggerating. After its been remineralized, I've never tasted water so good. I actually want to drink water now, which is a big deal for me. I think that before I got this, I was living in a constant state of low grade dehydration. It played havoc with my health in many different ways; so, I'm grateful to Waterwise for helping me get back on track with replenishing my bodily fluids.
I do have one complaint about this device and unfortunately it's not one that I'm sure anything could be done about or you wouldn't find with any other distilling device. I was not prepared for just how much heat and moisture this thing puts into the air. I live in a smallish apartment and to keep it cool in the winter I have to run the central air fan and crack the windows. I even have a fan pulling in air from one of them. During the summer, my electric bill goes up much higher than it ought to (perhaps by about three times in the hot months). I think if you're going to buy this you really need to consider the likelihood that your energy costs are going to increase. In addition, if you don't create a good flow of air, the additional moisture will condensation to build up on your windows. This could lead to mold. So, there's a little work involved in getting the best water you possibly could.

This is a cheap piece of junk. It is difficult to even get it to work with having to adjust the collecting unit which is flimsy. I hate it! It gives me hackles up every time I think of how much I spent for it.

Uhhh... Something doesn't compute here and needs to be explained. The extreme disparity between all these reviews essentially cancels them all out like an algebraic ratio problem. What is the truth? Perhaps this distiller is manufactured out of sometimes marginal materials in an iffy environment. Having seen some of the documented Chinese working conditions on TV, that wouldn't surprise me. Does AMAZON quality-check the safety of food and water preparation products? ARE those seriously negative reviews accurate?

I knew that the place I wanted to live did not have the best water in. It was my choice to have good drinking and cooking water. The best way to get that was to distill it myself. I also bought the non-electric in case of disaster as you could also use it on the BBQ. Given that, it takes the best part of the day to get the five gallons that I want. I have to choose a day where I am going to be home to attend it. It usually takes 10-12 hours. It has to be attended to every 40 minutes. I live with a timer around my neck all day. I have to do this once a week. Except for this inconvenience, I am happy with it. I have been doing this for 4 years and at times am very tired of being "tied" to it. I am considering buying an electric one to use on the days when it is really an inconvenience to spend all day to get the water I want.
