The Birth of Thermodynamics,
This review is from: From Watt to Clausius: The Rise of Thermodynamics in the Early Industrial Age (History of Science and Technology Reprint Series) (Paperback)
"From Watt to Clausius" provides a fascinating account of the way advances in engineering drove the development of the science of thermodynamiacs during the early year of the industrial revolution. It gives the reader a clear sense of who the important players were on both sides, and, more important, what their motivations were, and it is a pleasure to read because it is well written.

This review is from: From Watt to Clausius: The rise of thermodynamics in the early industrial age
Great history of the development of thermodynamics and its impact upon the industrial revolution.
Well written and comprehensive information about what researchers and inventors knew about the theory of thermodynamics and its practical application. Donald Cardwell has present this story in an engaging manner putting the technical developments in historical and human context--a book I found difficult to put down. |
