1.0 out of 5 stars Does Not Work
I've been an Amazon.com customer for years. A few weeks ago, I purchased this Mono-Crystalline Solar Battery Charger at Amazon.com from Exciting Products. It does not work, despite repeated attempts with it in the Hawaii sun. I'm returning this solar charger for my money back.

I have had this solar bag recharger now for a short while and really have to commend the inventor/ creator for an excellently designed and manufactured product. Wish the manufacturer where named by the reseller.

The review about the battery case in the sun warping - do not be fooled by it. The materials used in this product, as well as the workmanship, are top notch. Houston is most certainly hot and my guess is that the pack was left in a car to recharge, that's 140F and more. No plastic will stay unharmed by such heat.

The one star rating given by someone else, also missed the point. A product isn't bad just because the owner bought the wrong product for his needs. I'd like to see a product this size which does run an inverter, this is not a big solar farm. This product also was not designed to charge a car battery, but if wanted, a male-male connector could be used without a problem.

For the size that this bag has, combined with the female cigarette lighter plug, together with an additional zip-able pocket to take along connectors or whatever, it is a great product. I use it to recharge my handheld HAM radio on the go and I am looking forward to next summer when it will undoubtedly keep my transceiver going endlessly. Even when nighttime has come it keeps going with the charged batteries in the pack. I personally filled it up with Eneloop AA batteries so the charged energy isn't lost within a few days.

I will update this review with specifications as soon as possible.

I certainly did not regret this buy. Anyone interested in a durable, reliable emergency power supply for small gadgets, be it cell phones, GPS, you name it - will not regret ordering it.

I've been testing this in Southwest sunshine since February with no melting of the battery pack. I bought 10 rechargeable AA cells separately, the "solar cells" are the photovoltaic pieces. It has a cigarette power socket like in a car.

Don't expect it to charge your car battery or power an inverter for your laptop. Maybe you could finesse those things with some hardware fiddling, but you'd need patience since it's four watts, not forty watts.

It's perfect for existing iPhone and cell phone cigarette lighter chargers as is. I got it to work with a 12 volt scanner I bought at Radio Shack years ago. Again, that required adding my own cigarette adapter connected to the appropriate size power plug.

It also seems to run emergency Citizen Band rigs designed to plug into car 12 volt socket. A good way to keep in touch when parked without draining your car battery. A great addition to your "Blackout Bag."

It charges AA batteries just fine but you cant put an inverter on it to run a radio. I tried and it doesnt work. There are other solar powered battery chargers that charge all different sized batteries.Thats what I should of bought instead. All this is good for is chargeing AA batteries and that is it.I use the inverter in my car to charge my cell phone when im on the road.I dont know how you can charge a car battery with this thing when the cigarette lighter on the panel is a female fitting and wont fit in the cigarette lighter unless there are alagator clips with a male plug on the end of them. even so you would be hanging around your car for about 8 hours waiting for the panel to charge the car battery.
