I love PEX and using the cinches rather than the crimps. This tool makes the job even quicker, and you can use the one tool for all the common household sizes rather than having to change jaws or tools. And no worrying about losing you "go/no-go" gauge either since the tool won't release until it is fully closed. I will admit that clamping the 3/4 & 1" rings takes a lot of muscle, and I ended up having to get creative with blocking so I could use all my body weight to close them... but I'm a tiny gal, so I'm sure a burly-man wouldn't have any problems. But any ladies out there who are looking to plumb with PEX should consider this tool a "must have" and also consider using only 1/2 & 3/8" tubing and fittings!

This crimper works as advertised and is worth the cost. I feel that the tool is made very well, it's heavy, ratchets very smoothly and the crimps are perfect. One word of caution... if you are looking for a one handed crimper, look elsewhere. This definitely requires two hands to crimp (unless you are a yeti or something).
All in all, I think this is a great tool and can recommend it.

I bought these since I decided to tackle some plumbing as part of a workshop remodel I was doing myself. I had never worked with pex tubing but from the research I did I knew I wanted this style of clamps vs the other style. Part of this is so I can use the same tool with smaller clamps on my homebrew beer hoses. Its nice to be able to use one tool for various things.

Using this tool is simple, but it definitely takes some strength and sometimes creative leveraging in some locations. The only leaks I had after turning the water back on were the clamps I forgot to crimp.

I did find for some clamps it was easiest to slightly crimp them so they would stay put while putting the tubing in place. Be careful not to over crimp them though, and with that said if you do over crimp or for some reason need to remove a clamp you need to grind it off. They do make a tool to remove them but I had a cordless dremel handy and it worked well enough.

As far as the clamps go you can use a few different sizes (details in product description) , but I found them cheapest by getting 25 packs from a local big box hardware store. I would suggest buying more than you initially think you need too.

I am very experienced in soldering copper plumbing and long ago also had my share of gluing pcv plumbing. However, I decided to do a project using PEK plastic plumbing due to the durability of the PEK in some adverse conditions. I knew did not want to deal with Go/ No Go gauges or worry about whether I got the clamp too tight, out of round, etc. It all sounded like a hassel to me.

Fortunately I discovered this tool. As long as you have the room to manuever the tool and apply some leverage to the handles to ratchet them closed to the appropriate pinch on the clamps, you are good as gold. There is no guessing or hoping you did the job correctly. The ratches will stop when you have the correct pinch. I cut and prefit all the pieces together. I then went back and pulled them apart one at a time, installing the clamp and the pinch. It took me literally minutes to do over a dozen 3/4 inch clamps onto metal fittings. Much faster than soldering 3/4 copper. I turned the water on and not a single leak. I am sold.

I have a little chop miter saw that I use for cutting boards. This saw also does a nice job of squarely and cleanly cutting PEK tubing without burrs if you use a medium speed. One note, I am a pretty muscular person and still a few of the pinch clamps were difficult based upon lack of leverage in a tight spot. I moved from a step stool to a ladder to get greater leverage and angle and things went fine to finish the project.

This is a very solid tool and it will last for my lifetime. I am very pleased to add this tool to my toolbox.

My wife and I are remodeling our 41 year old home. We decided to do it ourselves and look for products which will make the process easier and quicker. We chose three sizes of Pex pipe to re-plumb the intake water pipes, 1", 3/4" and 1/2". We looked for a ratcheting clamp tool at the local Home Depot and were shocked at the price. We looked at a similar tool at the local plumbing supply and were similarly taken back by the price - $150+. I found this tool on Amazon and have used it every day for weeks and made a hundred clamps of the 3 sized hoses and this tool never failed to deliver flawless, accurate cinching every time! It ratchets as you close it and automatically opens back up when you are through with the squeeze. It is very easy and is a very good quality product!

I've used PEX Crimp rings in the past, and now used this Cinch Clamp to replace the galvanized pipe in my house.

This tool was solidly built and very easy to use.

Cinch clamps are slightly more expensive than crimp rings, but offer many advantages. This cinch clamp tool works great for any size pipe, where a crimp ring needs a specific tool for each size pipe. Cinch clamps are also MUCH easier to deal with if you mess up a crimp: just use a dremel to cut the part where the tool crimps and you have almost no risk of damaging the pipe or the connector.

The tool does need quite a bit of leverage to get the crimp started.
