Bought this to use with my Costco purchased Watts Premier WP2-BVC. Note that these are the filters for the WP2-LCV system but are fully compatible with either system. I was looking for these filters because they are optimized (marketing?) for reduction of volatile chemical contamination in addition to reducing contamination by biological organisms. Very good price (at least a third cheaper than other vendors I considered). I called Watts Premier customer service and they confirmed that these are the same as their sku 560030.

I'm on typical city-sourced water, which has a consistent quality level that I was attempting to improve. Never had a turbidity problem, just the usual chlorine and trace contaminants that I wanted to remove.

I started using Watts filters when I purchased a Watts WP2BVC under-counter filter system in 2009. This system is identical to the Watts 500313 2-Stage Undercounter Lead, Cyst & VOC Reducing Drinking Water System (WP2LCV) system, but uses different filter media for the carbon block (101003). When Watts discontinued the original filter pack for my system, I started using this filter pack (560088). I would typically keep a spare on hand. I'd use the spare when it was time to change the filters, and order a new one to refill the spare (i.e. rotate the inventory). This system performed superbly for many years and I changed the filter pack approximately every 6 months.

However, my faith in this product waned last fall. I did my usual swap of filter media (purchased May 2013), and flushed the system for a few minutes. I noticed the whistling that other reviewers were mentioning, but it didn't bother me much. What did bother me was the water taste. While the chlorine and other noticeable contaminants seemed undetectable, there was a strong flavor (not present straight from the tap) that I can only describe as "plastic like from an aquarium filter". I could diminish this if I ran the filtered faucet for a few minutes, but it would be detectable in the glass if the water rested for a while. To try to troubleshoot this problem, I removed the filter media and inspected it.

UPDATED:

I've been using Watts two-stage system for many years and have been buying the same replacement pack over and over - and I couldn't have been happier. The last Watts Premier replacement kit that I bought in 2014 was, however, different. First sign was that, after all the normal "discard the first 10 gallons", the taste of water that came from the filtering system was exactly same as the raw tap water (believe me, I can tell the difference! Water is really nasty where I live). Another sign was that the system was emitting an awful squeeky sound when water was flowing through it.

Initially I thought this was because the dimensions had changed (new filter seemed to be a tiny bit shorter than the older one). Anyway, I got fed up and bought a carbon filter from another manufacturer. When I put Watts filter side by side with it, the difference was a fraction of a millimeter in length. But the good news was that the carbon filter from another manufacturer WORKED: no nasty taste in the water, no squeeky sounds. It was "KX Matrikx", ordered via Amazon.

Clearly, something dramatically changed in the Watts manufacturing process. Watts carbon filter went to trash.

Watts and all vendors have discontinued the original filter set for the Watts Premier WP2-BVC. This set is a perfect replacement and includes some additional filtering on VOC's. They do have slightly different sealing surfaces and no longer have a protruding neck on one of the filters. Rest assured though, these filters fit just fine and work great. For all of you who bought the WP2-BVC at Costco or other locations, this is your new replacement set. Great price too. Good ol Amazon saves the day.

I have previously purchased filters, that this time around were no longer available. No problem, as there is a replacement. The information was rather vague, as to exactly which filter(s) to replace my obsolete ones with! Took my best, educated guess, and was successful. Moral - Selection could be made a bit clearer to end user! Additionally the filters that came were not exact replacements, in that the coupling on the filter was different. First thought was "oh boy" wrong filter. It worked fine, but again it would have been helpful to have enclosed some written notification stating the new configuration was workable, and perhaps an explanation of the difference. Otherwise satisfied.

This filter looks different than the older one it replaces. It fits fine and works great though.

At first we thought we ordered the wrong filter because the top is a different design.

Just FYI. I did my research since I was going from a reverse osmosis filtration system (turns out, really, really bad for you), to standard filter filtration, and I wanted to get something that would remove chemicals and particles, but not dissolved minerals (really, really good for you, as it turns out). You get a slower flow and bubbly water, but these pull more VOCs and other other chemicals out of the water. I live in CA where mTSB was added to gasoline several years ago, which then ended up in ground water. Anyway, the extra filtration makes these filters more expensive, but they seem to have a very good price here.
