Celebration of the The Memphis Sound ! ! !,
This review is from: Wattstax (Audio CD)
This was a great early '70s double LP soundtrack to the concert movie featuring some INCREDIBLE performances. An all time fave of mine. Sadly, STAX was on its last legs heading into deep financial woes when they recorded this classic concert... and they were getting so funky too (check out the SON OF STAX compilation)... Most of these Stax groups were meant to be heard live anyway... and here they are. As you listen to it, you'll really feel like you're back in the era... captures the sound and the spirit. I've had the album since I was a teenager and never stopped listening to it ! ! ! I wanna know when they're going to release the video as well as Stax II which I have on vinyl ! ! ! I heard rumors tha on occasion it'll wind up on TV late at night once in a blue moon, but either people are messing with my mind or I always miss it. Anyway, if you don't have this album and you're a true '70s soul buff you MUST MUST MUST get your hands on it... great listening experience !

Gonh be funky,

Every little thing the did gonh be funky. Memphis forever. RnB dynamite that shoots your head clean off. Again and again. This live stuff kind of makes the studio stuff a little... lifeless maybe. And there shure is some ass kicking life in the studio material. This album will kill any party floor anywhere at any time. This is fatter than Gilbert Grapes mom.
