Book Description

When Danny Marlowe moved to Canada at the beginning of his sophomore year in high school, he believed his basketball career was finished. Now, two and a half years later, he's a prolific player getting ready to travel over the Christmas break with his team to Brookings, Oregon, where three previous generations of Marlowes starred and his father's number had been retired. When Danny arrives, he charges into a hornet's nest as several Brookings players are set to walk off the team because their coach won't run a fast break or allow them to shoot three-point shots. The town's weekly newspaper, The Bastion, owned by Danny's grandfather, has asked Marianne Tanner, a college student whom Danny likes, to write a series of articles blasting the coach and the program. At first Danny supported this position until circumstances change and he finds he could be transferring down and playing at Brookings himself.

This review is from: The Wave (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book, its subject matter and the setting, along the Oregon Coast. Real characters challenged by events and circumstances beyond their control. A well crafted work of fiction. Compelling and engaging.
