The reel skips from peak to peak on each wave and forces loops to lie down harmlessly eliminating tangles and birdnests. Loops are not offloaded during casts, which lowers friction for 30% longer casts. This allows you to fill spool to a higher capacity. Works with both mono- and super-braid lines.

This smallest of the Wavespin reels is a pleasure to use. It's compact, well made and a perfect size for use with 2 to 8 pound test line. It handles both mono and braid equally well. I have had mine for about six months and used it probably 30 times in that period and have never had a "birds nest" as a result of getting a loop on the spool so I can say that the unusual design of the spool lip does work as advertised. All in all a great little fresh water reel and Amazon's price is about 15 bucks less than Gander Mountain or the Bass shop.

Have used many Shimano reels in the past with no problems, saw this and wanted to try it, You can load up this reel to the top and will cast farther. I also bought Berkly NANO line, new product, just for spinning reels, line took awhile to get used to but once the reel loosened up I can cast farther than ever before. you have to use the knot for NANO line or you will loose your tackle, but you can't go wrong with this set up.
