I enjoy fishing with my husband, but in the past I would spend a good deal of time untangling knotted line. This reel so far seems to not allow loops to form when casting. It is a little heavier than my other reels but it really does allow me to cast quite a bit farther than my other reels!
The only thing I would have liked a little more is a feature that older reels have.... the little "trigger" that helps you grab and hold the line just before you cast. (Maybe that's just a "girlie" feature, but I like it. Of course, it's not a "must have" by any means).
All in all, a very comfortable reel.

I purchased three of these reels off of ebay for a price less than the average, just have to be patient and bid right. I have one each of the 3000, 4000, 5000. I filled them all with 30 lb PE Sprectra braided line, get different colors to keep track of the line strengths. ( Also purchased on Ebay from China, great price and excellent products). All three reels have been severly battle tested and worked excellent, smooth as a babies butt and no loop de loops. Since I do only saltwater fishing I like the lubrication ports lacking in most other reels. I keep a can of pledge furniture spray in the boat and after washing with fresh water and when dry, spray them to help with preventing salt corrosion, use it on other reels and items in the boat also. The drag is also very smooth and quick acting. Finally a spinning reel that works like a good product should. Doug did his research as usual and made things better for we users. No, I am not related to him, just a happy fisherman. More time fishing and less time un tangling.

Well, I just got this reel before last weekend. I went on a big fishing trip and it was marvelous! I was able to land 8-10lb fish with ease! Very smooth cast, quick and smooth reel, and a perfect drag to match. I would recommend this reel to anyone who loves fishing and doesn't want to deal with short casts and tangled lines. Love it, :).

Love these reels, I own 2 and my dad owns 2. I will continue to buy wavespin reels for life.

Reel is advertised as preventing all line tangles as result of loop in line.The only times it did not prevent tangle is when loop is close to top of reel?In all other respects,the reel operates smoothly.

This is the best spinning reel I have ever used. It's smooth as silk and casts great.

I own two of these reels the 3000 and the 5000. I use them on my fishing kayak.

The vendor however did a poor job. They listed the reel as ready for pickup, which I think is false and it took four days for UPS to get it.

My guess is they listed it ready for pickup to make you think the delay is UPS's fault; I don't buy it.

WIll not buy from this vendor again.

hello ... I'm Italian and I order a pescatole often articles from America .... this seems like a good reel ... unfortunately I had no way to test yet .... but I am holding the piece and I am allowed to disassemble and test the components .... really good .... even in this case I only noticed a middle-sizing of the tree .... I hope it is a good material for the rest ... is really good .. .. good fishing to all ....

Yeah, my dad got this in the mail and started using it right away, it was just what he wanted, but then he lost it in a lake. so if you guys could install a lake retrieval option, that would be awesome. thanks.

A smooth reel with plenty of instuctions as to how to service for salt water use. Stout enough, drag seems very smooth. a few pieces could be upgraded to better quality plastic, but all in all, a very nice reel at this price point. Dennis DeMichele

I have used the Wavespin DH5000 on my last three fishing trips to the Gulf coast. Really smooth, already saving up to buy another.
