This is a great book from which students, instructors, math researchers, signal processing workers, and communications engineering, can pick up the rigorous tools from Fourier analysis and sub-band filtering theory;-- and see in full mathematical detail how they are used in the study of wavelets in their traditional settings (from the 1980ties)of scaling of multiresolutions, spectral estimates, orthogonality, Cohen's condition, tilings, and a priory regularity...The proofs are complete, crisp and elegant. The book can now be supplemented with newer ones that emphasize algorithms more. And others with a more applied bent! But Holschneider's book will likely remain a classic. |
