Format: Hardcover
This is an advanced up-to-date text on Geophysical fluid dynamics, with a focus on waves and their back-effect on the mean flow. Oliver's writing is very clear and his ability to deliver such an advanced text in a relatively short volume is highly appreciated.
This book is "the bible" for deep understanding of topics as: the usage of asymptotic method in GFD, the TEM equations and the GLM formulation.
Oliver's book to GFD is similar to what Lax's textbook did to Linear Algebra - it makes it an ART.
It is highly recommended as an advanced text after you have gained some experience with GFD.
It is unique in the sense that you wouldn't find many of its content in any other textbook.
