3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, not earth shattering or heaven transcending
I've followed Jonathan for years. His stuff is hit and miss for me. While the concept behind this CD is interesting for me it's not as well done as similar stuff from Stephen Halpern such as Higher Ground. Many of the tones here sound a bit sharp and personally distracting.

If you really want to trance out with ambient stuff it's hard to beat Max Corbacho...

Waves of Light is 72 minutes of uninterrupted sound produced by 9 tuning forks. There is no structure or path or 'narrative' in the sequences so the sound is ideal for meditation or relaxation. Goldman's inspiration for Waves of Light was Dr Leonard Horowitz's 'healing codes of the Bible' - 9 frequencies which are 'a tool for planetary, evolutionary acceleration'. I like to focus on the sound rather than use it as a support or background to other spiritual activities. The experience is like leaving Earth and being in limbo before taking up some other form of consciousness. The booklet suggests healing properties which I haven't tested but it leaves you with a slightly disembodied impression which these days is a lot more agreeable than 'bodied'.

5.0 out of 5 stars another fantastic Goldman creation, April 20, 2009

This CD is 72 minutes of what I can only call "celestial" sounds. Using special tuning forks tuned to 9 Holy Harmony frequencies, Goldman has painted a sonic landscape of great beauty and profound power.

The feel is quite a bit lighter and more ethereal than the 2012: Ascension Harmonics CD, but the effects are just as intense. These sounds are soaring, lilting waves much like Tibetan bowls or even running your finger around the rim of a crystal glass. The tuning forks were originally introduced on Goldman's "The Lost Chord" recording, and used again on the "Holy Harmony" CD. There is a small liner booklet which gives more information about the history of the forks and the recording process.

I find this CD as useful for altered states and sleeping as the 2012: Ascension Harmonics CD, but with slightly different effects. I also use it as background ambient sound, depending on my mood or the nature of the work I am doing.

I find much to like in most of Goldman's work, and this is no exception. If you like meditation music and sounds which assist in altering your state, you should definitely try this out. I think you will be pleased. This is one of his best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soothing sounds for transformation, March 14, 2008
This review is from: Waves of Light (Audio CD)
This is a really special recording. I've been listening to it for days now when I'm about to go to sleep. It really seems to calm both my body and my mind--allowing me to enter states of deep relaxation that I had not previously encountered. There are supposedly special frequencies on this recording that are good for healing. All I know is that when I hear WAVES OF LIGHT, it makes me feel good--calm and peaceful. And in this busy and hectic world, we can always use an oasis of tranquility such as this recording provides. I highly recommend this CD for everyone.

This is a truly extraordinary CD with this divine sounds you can really enter y a state of deep relaxation and keeps you feeling calm and peaceful.

The sounds of the tuning forks are similar to the sound of a cristal bowl, Mr. Jonathan Goldman had made a glorius CD, it's a mesmerizing and far beyond my any expectation and review, you need to hear it... you REALLY NEED to hear it, It have been said that the sounds of the tuning forks can purify and cleanse negative energies in the room where it is played, in your house, in your city, in your country and maybe all around the world, having being profoundly touched by this CD, I do believe it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Waves of Light, January 5, 2009
This review is from: Waves of Light (Audio CD)
Jonathan's big thing is about the function of intent in conveying a message through sound waves. Whether you feel that the 'science' which serves as a ground to his works is sketchy doesn't really matter - you can prove this to yourself by listening to something which you know drives you insane and observing the effect. What happens? Something about it, the sound and the message it forwards, doesn't agree with you. Now listen to something you enjoy and observe the effect of that - you feel attuned to it. Jonathan takes this deeper, in that he proposes that not only the sound itself but the intent of the one producing it and the one listening to it has a transformational effect. This is fairly obvious, in a sense, but we often ignore this sort of basic law in the interest of intensifying desirable emotional responses, even when these are not in accordance with a natural state of health and harmony in ourselves - a state which is content, free from physical and mental tension, and centered in compassion.

Jonathan himself in interviews and writings recalls an event where he was playing guitar in a punk rock band while noticing the effect the sound was having on the audience in the club. Anger, aggression, violence, restlessness, tension, etc., were being produced by the expectations of those present and the response of the musicians creating the sound which conveyed similar feelings. He had a flash of intuition where he wondered whether the opposite was possible - whether it was possible to heal, to engender feelings of compassion and harmony, in people rather than feelings of aggression, tension, and self-contracting egoic responses.

Again, this seems (at least to me, anyway) to be an obvious 'law' occurring naturally, not only in humans but in life itself. And yet again, if we will admit this to ourselves, we prefer to give continuity to bad feelings. We like them! Watching horror movies, we like to be scared to death and shocked. Listening to angry music or sad music, we like to be titillated by these things and wallow in our self-contracted states of negativity. When we are unhappy, there is somewhere to go - a goal, a desire, is planted in the mind that we can still go from here to there, and so we are benefited by these ill emotions because they give continuity to the thought that a state of supernal happiness and contentment can be achieved. Transcending this is difficult, because when one is nearing that state, that of being totally content, the mind worries because it has no more room to move, in a sense. The habituated patterns of thought have to cease for total contentment and dispassion of mind to manifest fully. This means dissolving that purgatorial state where one feels more comfortable in a lower, less happy, more self-contracted state and simply relax into the underlying state of mind which is by its nature contentment, dispassion, and supernal happiness. This is, I feel, the goal of such releases and the drive for artists and researches like Jonathan Goldman.

His favorite formula is the simple FREQUENCY + INTENT = HEALING.

This release, WAVES OF LIGHT, consists of relaxed chimes from tuning forks. They appear and disappear like calm ocean waves overlapping each other. Listen to them as if they are colors showering over and through you. This is imagination, of course, but there's nothing wrong with that; there are too many people who approach 'healing' music with the idea that nothing is required on their part to be changed through the music. This is totally wrong. It's not a violent, forceful thing - you can't be raped into being healed by sound. It's a relationship, and a communion. Feel as if your body and consciousness has dissolved into waves of luminous light and sound, it merging into you and you merging into it infinitely. It IS a transformational process, as one surrenders ordinary anxieties in favor of this transcendent experience of feeling one's being, pure and undefiled by tension, as the sound gently and gradually comes and goes...

5.0 out of 5 stars Is there a SECRET in these WAVES OF LIGHT, March 14, 2008
This review is from: Waves of Light (Audio CD)
This is an amazing CD--it's created by one of the top sound healing pioneers and really is extraordinary for relaxation and meditation. It uses the sounds of tuning forks cuts to specific frequencies that supposedly are the tones of creation. I know many people who use it to help them get to sleep. And others who use it for energetic space clearing. Still others use it to assist their manifestation visualizations. Is there a SECRET hidden in these unique frequencies? I particularly like these beautiful ambient spatial sonics as a background to set a balanced environment in my home.

72 minutes--2007--1 continuous track

Jonathan Goldman is not only a composer, musician, writer, and teacher, but is said to be a pioneer producer of sound healing music.

The back cover states "this CD features the Sacred Healing Code frequencies using the 9 Holy Harmony Tuning Forks to create a soothing and ambient sonic environment of peace and tranquility". You do need to know that this CD is not representative of what most people call "music". This is VIBRATIONAL sound/music, the kind of CD an alternative healer would use. You might expect to hear this music in a Reiki, massage, or acupuncture session. It is a series of sustained tones from tuning forks.

There is a small booklet included which talks about Jonathan and explains a little about the Healing Codes of the Bible (divinely inspired numbers that can manifest as sound and provided as a tool for planetary evolutionary acceleration) in the book by Dr. Joseph Puleo and Dr. Leonard Horowitz. Only 6 frequencies were revealed in the book, but Dr. Horowitz later gave Jonathan the complete series of 9 frequencies. Jonathan had tuning forks cut to the frequencies. In the booklet, Jonathan provides "the frequencies and some suggested energy that may be encoded with each tone:"
174-Turning Spirit into Matter
285-Grounding Spiritual Energy
396-Turn Grief to Joy
417-Reconnect With Source
528-Miracles & DNA Repair
639-Personal Relationships & Connection With Spiritual Family
852-Final Clearing
983-Turning Matter Into Spirit

If you are a healer, then you most likely already understand sound healing and energy vibrations. For the healer, I believe you will appreciate the beautiful vibrational qualities of this CD far more than the normal listener. This CD has a "feel" to it that seems to delve deep into the inner consciousness. It is probably far more beneficial in a Reiki (or other healing session) than many of the other wonderful vibrational or meditative CDs used by many to instill a meditative/peaceful/healing session. I highly recommend it, even if you have a ton of this stuff--this one is really special. It "feels" right. For the healer, it's a "must have." I am listening as I write and it continues to vibrate throughout my entire body, not just my head. It feels as though every cell is vibrating. When I stop writing and actually concentrate on it for a minute, it is even more awesome. I am definitely going to burn this one to my ipod and go to sleep with it. (I always go into sleep time with vibrational music or subliminal programming.) I am also quite anxious to meditate with this CD.

If you are not a healer, you can still derive great benefit from the CD. It is wonderful for learning to meditate with. Meditation is such a wonderful experience, so peaceful and calming. It is a fantastic way to center and ground yourself from stress and wind down at the end of the day. It's a way to go into that special place, where you are completely at peace.

Not interested in meditation? Then consider this CD for your sleep time and dream journeys. If you can open yourself to the possibility that sound can heal, just play this while you drift off to sleep every night for awhile. There is a really good chance that you will experience some very positive changes in yourself. I plan to buy another copy of this CD for a friend who is going through some serious changes in his life right now. I know it will help him find peace. Note: This is NOT something to listen to in the car. If you do, you might find out what it's like on the "other side" before your time.

By the way, I rate this CD much higher than a 5. How can you really even begin to quantify something like this?--something that can have a profound impact on your inner Spirit. Geeze--this CD is truly awesome!

If you really want to trance out with ambient stuff it's hard to beat Max Corbacho as in The Resonant Memory of Earth. Previously I thought Steve Roach was number one with works like Slow Heat and immersion : three. But I think Max has really hit paydirt in connecting to some very deep veins of being.

I got this a few months ago and I have to say, it's worth the money. It's lovely sounds, not so much music as it is just lovely, relaxing sounds. I play it when I go to bed and I listen to it during the day when I need to unwind. It's not a collection of songs so if you put it in your IPod you can listen to bits of it during the day and just stop it when you need to.
